ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 44 -14 -01 <br />of the <br />City Manager <br />City of Eugene, Oregon <br />AMENDMENT OF CITY OF EUGENE'S SMOKING POLICY <br />APPLICABLE TO ALL CITY OWNED OR LEASED FACILITIES AND <br />VEHICLES, AND REPEAL OF ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 44 -93- <br />02. <br />The City Manager of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />A. Under the provisions of Chapter IV, Section 16 of the Eugene Charter of 2002, <br />the City Manager is designated as the administrative head of the City, specifically authorized to <br />appoint and remove all employees (except as otherwise provided in the Charter), organize, and, <br />as deemed necessary, disband and reorganize various City departments, and to enforce all <br />ordinances of the City. <br />B. On May 18, 1993, Administrative Order No. 44 -93 -02 was issued adopting the <br />City of Eugene's smoking policy applicable to all City owned or leased facilities and vehicles. <br />C. The City has recently amended its Administrative Policy Manual to add electronic <br />cigarettes as a prohibited smoking instrument in indoor work areas at all facilities owned, leased, <br />and operated by the City, including motor vehicles. It is necessary to amend the City's smoking <br />policy adopted by Administrative Order No. 44 -93 -02 so that it is consistent with the <br />amendments made to the Administrative Policy Manual. <br />Now, therefore, based upon the above findings, I order that: <br />Order. <br />1. Administrative Order No. 44 -93 -02 is repealed as of the effective date of this <br />2. The City's smoking policy is amended to provide as follows: <br />City of Eugene Smoking Policy <br />1. This Policy applies to all employees, agents, and members of the <br />public when inside City owned or leased facilities or vehicles. For purposes of <br />this Policy, smoking instruments and devices are defined as: cigarettes, cigars, <br />electronic cigarettes, and pipes. <br />2. The use of any lighted or electronic smoking instrument or device <br />is strictly prohibited in indoor work areas at all facilities owned, leased and <br />Administrative Order - Page 1 of 2 <br />
