The yearly event showcases Eugene <br />Public Works and the efforts the department makes every day on <br />behalf of the citizens of Eugene. <br /> <br />This fun-filled day will feature a variety of activities and equipment <br />displays to engage children. Tour guides, including Mayor Kitty <br />Piercy, will help classes navigate the yard and connect with Public <br />Works staff who can educate children and adults alike. <br /> <br />Parking is easy for employees who wish to attend. Fire Station 2 will have a continuous shuttle to and from the yard. For <br />those not driving, LTD is offering a free shuttle from the downtown Eugene station to the yard and back every half hour. <br /> <br />Councilors are invited to attend. For more information, contact event coordinator Kim Mast at 541-682-5548. <br /> <br />Celebrate Nature at Eugene Public Library <br />On Tuesday, May 26, at 6 p.m., the Downtown Eugene Public Library will host “Nature and the Art of Celebration,” a <br />multimedia presentation by Eric Alan combining photos, music, and more. Admission is free. <br /> <br />Alan has designed “Nature and the Art of Celebration” to create a feeling of <br />meditative beauty and calm. He explains, "Reconnecting to nature, even in <br />urban settings, can return a sense of peace and of being well-grounded to <br />our daily lives. Looking closely at the details of our world with a conscious <br />goal of celebrating them can also heighten our positive experience.” <br /> <br />Eric Alan is an author, photographer, and KLCC radio host.
