Offers Free Family Events All Summer Long <br />EUGfun!, a City of Eugene program, will offer over 50 free, family-friendly events all summer starting Thursday, Jun. 18. <br />While the program runs yearlong, summer events are currently listed in the EUGfun! summer passport, available at Eugene <br />recreation centers, the Eugene Public Library and distributed at 4J schools. The <br />summer event schedule includes live music, movies, dancing, human-powered fun, <br />library events, theater in the park, and more. <br /> <br />Fun For All, a free, drop-in playground program for youth ages five – 18, runs <br />Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at six Eugene parks, from Jun. 29 – Aug. 21. <br />Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible party aged 15 or over. <br /> <br />“Arts and culture are integral to creating a vibrant, thriving and livable <br />community” said Colette Ramirez, community events manager for City of Eugene’s <br />Cultural Services Division. “The EUGfun! series is important because it provides <br />accessible opportunities for community members to connect, create, entertain and <br />be entertained all year long throughout our beautiful city.” <br /> <br />Passports are available in English and Spanish in print and on the web. The Telly Awards are the video industry’s premier competition for recognition of exemplary video work. This is <br />the sixth Telly Award Metro TV has won. <br /> <br />The award-winning video is titled “Public Works – Safer <br />Crossing.” It was created in conjunction with Public Works <br />Engineering staff as a segment of the Working City series <br />produced by the City of Eugene. The four-and-a-half- <br />minute video highlights the partnerships between Public <br />Works, neighborhood groups, and the local school <br />community that resulted in the construction of a <br />pedestrian-activated crossing light on a busy street near a <br />grade school. <br /> <br />The video received the Bronze Award for its outstanding <br />production quality in the Governmental Relations category. <br />Award-winning productions illustrate the value of community TV and provide support for the retention of community TV <br />channels in franchise negotiations with Comcast.
