The Mayor and City Recorder of the City of Eugene be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver, on behalf of the City of Eugene, that certain garbage contract with R. R. Hughes, a copy of which is hereto attached and made a part of this ordinance. Hughes THIS CONTRACT AND AGkEEMENT,made and entered into this 1st day of July, 1942, by and between the City of Eugene, a municipal corporation, party of tYie first part, and H. R. xughes party of the second part: WITNESSETFi That 4'~`HEREAS, the City of Eugene maintains a garbage dump on property owned by the City South of the City Limits, and the second party has heretofore been in cYiarge of the same under a former contract, and the City's fiscal year commences on July 1, 1942. Therefore, it is agreed between the parties hereto that the second party shall care for the City's garbage dump in a sanitary and workmanlike manner, complying with all laws and ordinances applicable thereto, for a term of one year, commencing July 1, 1942, and terminating June 30, 1943, and shall receive therefor from the City of Eugene X75.00 on the first day of August, 1942, and 75.00 on the first of each succeeding month throughout the term of this contract. As an additional compensation for the care of the garbage dump the City of Eugene grants the right of salvage of all garbage and waste material which shall be gathered in the city of Eugene, and this shall constitute a property right which the second party may exercise. The second party agrees to keep said garbage dump open and accessible from eight o'clock in the morning until six o'clock in the aftern•~on of every day except Sunday, and that on Sundays the garbage dump shall be closed. It is further agreed that the City has amended its garbage ordinance providing that garbage haulers desiring to retain edible portions of the garbage f'or• feeding purposed may do so upon the payment of X200.00 per year payable quarterly, and the city hereby agrees to pay such additional license charges to the second party
