2~9 <br />ORDINANCE N0. 8797 <br />An Ordinance regulating use use of the public parks of the ~lity o <br />Eugene, prohibitng disorderly conduct therein, the defacing or injuring of <br />property,- the possession of fire arms and the killing or injuring of wild <br />life, and prohibiting the use of the parks after ten oclock p.m. of each day,, <br />other than for driving through the same. <br />THE CITY OF EUGEIV~ DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOVtjS: - <br />Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons in any of <br />the City Parks of the City of Eugene to commit any disorderly conduct, assault, <br />or to be in said parks in an intoxicated condition, or to injure or deface <br />any property within the city parks or to have in possession or to carry fire <br />arms within the parks or to molest, kill or injure any wild life within the <br />city parks. <br />Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to remain <br />or be found in any of the parks in the City of Eugene after the hour of'tan <br />oclock p,:m. except as they shall drive through said parks upon their lawful <br />business. <br />Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the pro- <br />visions of this ordinance shall upon conviction before the City Recorder be <br />subject to a fine of not more than X200.00 and the costs of the prosecution, <br />and may be imprisoned in the City Jail for each two days of the fine unpaid. <br />Section 4. Whereas, grave abuses have arisen in the use of the city <br />parks of the City of Eugene in that persons are guilty of disorderly conduct, <br />of shooting wild life, of intoxication, of injuring and defacing city property <br />and of loitering and remaining in .the parks at unseemly hours of the night, an <br />emergency is declared to exist and it is declared that it is necessary for the <br />immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of the City of Eugene <br />that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage by the Common <br />Council and its approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED BY THE COMMON COUIvTCIL <br />this 10th day of June 1944. <br />/s/ John Fields <br />Recorder pro tem <br />APPROVED BY THE I~.AYOR THIS <br />11th day of June 1944. <br />/s,[.
