I <br />29 6 <br />~ ORDINANCE NO. 8801 <br />An ordinance providing for the nomination s3f independant candidates <br />for elective municipal offices, by certificates of nomination by <br />individual electors. <br />THE CITY OF EUGEIV'E DOES ,ORDAIN AS FOLLOVuS <br />Section 1. There is hereby adopted by the City of Eugene the provisions <br />of Chapter 10 of Title 81 of Oregon Compiled Laws annotated for the nomination <br />~~ <br />of independant candidates by certificate of individual electors, in so far as <br />~~ the same may be applicable, for electove municipal offices in the City of Eugene <br />under the terms of this ordinance. <br />Section II. Independant candidates may be nominated by individual <br />. . <br />~ electors for elective office from any ward in Eugene, by filing with the City <br />Recorder, more than forty days preseeding the date filed by law for any general <br />election, a certificate of nomination, signed by not less than twenty five <br />legally qualified electors of the ward, certified by the County Clerk, and <br />accompanied by an acceptance, or accepted by the candid~te;~before said forty <br />five days; and for elective office from the city at large, by filing a similar <br />certificate, certified and accepted within said time by not less than One Hund- <br />j <br />red legally qualified electors of the City. <br />Section IIT. The form of the certificate and the procedure shall follow <br />the provisions of said Chapter 10 of Title 81, aforesaid so far as applicable <br />and not modified by this ordinance, and the Recorder shall transmit the inform- <br />; ation to the County Clerk to be placed upon the County ballot as provided by <br />Section 81-1307 OCLA, together with charter amendments, ordinances or questions <br />to be submitted to the voters. <br />Section IV. In case of death or withdrawl of any candidate the pro- <br />cedure shall follow the provisions of Title 81, Caapter 13 of 'the Code, where <br />ever applicable and not modified by this ordinance. <br />4 <br />1 Section V.
