RESOLUTION NO. 5184 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ALLOCATION OF $6,000,000 IN <br />LOTTERY BACKED BOND FUNDS TO THE EUGENE CIVIC <br />ALLIANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY SPORTS AND <br />RECREATION FACILITYON THE FORMER CIVIC STADIUM <br />PROPERTY. <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />A. <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene recognizes the value of physical <br />education and recreation for the children and community at large in the Eugene-Springfield area. <br />B. <br />The City Council supports the development of community sports and recreation <br />facilities that are accessible to all. <br />C. <br />The City Council recognizes the educational and economic benefits of community <br />sports and recreation facilities. <br />D. <br />The City Council has supported the Eugene Civic Alliance in its efforts to <br />redevelop the 10.2 acre site of the former Civic Stadium into a community sports and recreation <br />venue by facilitating purchase of the property and by retaining ownership of parts of the property <br />for a city park and multi-use path. <br />E. <br />The Eugene Civic Alliance has presented plans, including schematic design and <br />construction budget,for the development of the 10.2 acre property into a community sports and <br />recreation facilityas shown in Exhibits A and B attached to this Resolution. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, a <br />Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, as follows: <br />Section 1 <br />.The City Council supports the allocation in 2017 by the Oregon legislature of <br />$6,000,000 in lottery backed bond funds to the Eugene Civic Alliance dedicated to the capital <br />construction project of redeveloping the 10.2 acre site of the former Civic Stadium into a <br />community sports and recreation facility,as shown in Exhibits A and B attached to this <br />Resolution, provided that the current video lottery proceeds for local economic development are <br />maintained. <br />Section 2 <br />.The City Council directs the City Manager to send a copy of this Resolution <br />to Governor Kate Brown and the local State legislative delegation. <br />Resolution -Page 1of 2 <br />
