Meeting called to order by the W~yor. Minutes of the meetings of March 12, March 19, and March 26, 192~,apprdved. C A Wintermeier appeared as Attorney for n~s H J Manley claiming a damage aga.1,nst the City for the death of H J Manley and threatening suit unless the amounts claimed in the petition are paid. Said matter was referred to the JudiciaI' Committee and the City Attorney. As per the call, bi~s were opened as follows: Paving Orchard Street from the South line of ]'ranklin Boulevard to the North line of 19th Avenue, as follows: Hargrea~es and Lindsay ::3tein Bros. Guy F Pyle ~24562.00 228'74.00 22055.50 Such bids were referred to the Street C001mittee for report and it reported favor- abl~ on the bid of Guy F Pyle at $22055.50. On motion such report was adopted and the Mayor and Recorder were instructed to enter into a contract with such success- ful bidder for ,such contract v\I'lork. Bids were opened for the wideni~,g and depening of the Amazon Slough from a point 240 feet Vlest of Chambers Street to a point 2500 feet I~orth and West of the starting point as follows: Eugene Sand and Grave Co. L G Harmon i'ji2615.00 2592.10 I On motion, all bids were rejected. Bids were opened for the tileing and rocking the runwasy for aviation uses, Of the Aviation J:1'ield, as follovvs: Eugene Sand and Gravel Co. A C Mathews 1.50 per cubic yd. 1.64 per cubic yd. 0uch bids were referred to the Street Committee as to the bids for furnishing the gravel only for such work and the bid of the Eugene Sand and Gravel Co. a t ~pl. 50 per cubic yard was recommended. On motion such report was adopted. As per the call 'the following bids for the construction of cement sidewalks *ere received, those bids marked "approved" being awarded the contract in each case: Ord.
