L. <br /> Williamson, and all members of the Council except Lamb., Monroe,. and Reid. <br /> Mee1jing called ot order at 7:2iO o'clock P. M. by the Mayor. <br /> Committee reports were called for: - - - <br /> The Judiciary_ Co~ittee reported on the proposed zoning ordinance <br /> prohibiting c?-rnp grounds in certain parte: of the City, and proposed a certain <br /> amendment theretto which amendment was duly approved, after which, on motion, <br /> it was recommended for passage. <br /> The Finarrce Committee recommen.ded the monthly bills as hereinafter <br /> se'fi forth in full be allowed. On roll call, such bills were ordered paid. <br /> The Fire and Water Committee, the Street Committee, the Police <br /> Committee, and the Printing Committee had, no reports to make. <br /> The Sewer Committee stated the outlet of the Polk Street Sewer is in <br /> bad shape and offered the following resolution which was, on motion, unanimously <br /> adopted: <br /> RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the' City of Eugene, that <br /> the City of Eugene construct the outlet of the Polk Street Sewer at the Willamette <br /> Ri ver crossing aD. the North end of Poilik Street in said Ci ty.. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Engineer immediately prepare <br /> plans and specifications for such improve~ent work, and the City Recorder ad- I <br /> vertise for competitive bids for .such improvement work. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the contract price for such improvement <br /> work be paid from the Trunk Sewer Fund. <br /> The Chief of Police reported on the application of the Oak Street Club <br /> for a license and recommended that the same be not granted. After discussion <br /> such IDa tter was: continue.d. <br /> Street Commissioner LaVan reported on the damage to the Adams property <br /> ,i done by the Street Depariliment in mowing Lot 16, owned by the City at 8th and <br /> Almaden Streets, stating that such damage was done. The City Engineer was direct- <br /> ed to investigate and see to the repairing of such walk. <br /> The Play Ground Commission filed its report showing the daily attendance <br /> , of children at the various play grounds in the City and the same was delivered <br /> Ii to the Mayor. 0 <br /> The Milk and Meat Inspector presented his report which was ordered <br /> filed. <br /> I The Public Li'brary presented its repcrt which was duly filed. <br /> I' <br /> I The City Engineer filed his report on the proposed opening of 14th <br /> " Avenue from Willamette to Olive Streets, and an Ordinance a.dopting such report, <br /> and appointing Viewers therein, was read the first time and laid over. <br /> , A Rooming house permit was granted to Edna R. Howell to operate the <br /> I star Hotel located at 960 Willamette Street. <br /> ii <br /> 'I I <br /> The Recorder presented a letter from R. L. Polk and Co. with said <br /> Company's bills for five directories which directories are very faulty, and the <br /> matter was discussed. On motion duly carried, the Recorder was directed to remit <br /> to said Company one half the price as billed, for said directories, in full <br /> settlement thereof. <br /> ~" <br /> il <br />
