June 10, 1929. There were present the l'v1ayor and all membess of the <br />Council, except Large i:l.nd Monroe. Meeting called ,tdl order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Minutes 01' the rreetings 01' .May lilth, May G7th, and June ord, approved. <br /> <br />A petition for the opening of the alley between Willamette and. <br />Oiive Streets from loth Street to North line of Block 1, of Whitney's Addition <br />was presented, and subsequent ~hereto, a remonstrance against such alley <br />opening. The petition and remonstrance having been referred to the City <br />Engineer, and it appearing that the petition did not contain a majority 01' <br />signers along the proposed opening, and that the remonstrance did contain a <br />majority ot' signers, it was on motion ordered that the petition be denied, and <br />the remonstrance gran ted. <br /> <br />Mr. Jalres A. Pitt complained or the sanitary condition of a barn in <br />the Block between ~rd and 4th Avenues, and High and Mill Streets, on account <br />of the keeping of cat tle and horses. The ma. tter was r'eferred to t he Health <br />Committee. <br /> <br />As per the call, bidS were received for the paving 01' the alley be tween <br />Willamette, Street ~nd Olive Street from 5th Avenue to 6th Avenue, as follows: <br /> <br />Hargreaves & Lindsay <br />Stien Bros. <br /> <br />$1,467.40 <br />1,215.60 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Said bids were referred to the Street Committee for report, bond sUch <br />committee recommended the bid of Stien Bros. at $1,215.60 be accepted.
