There were present Mayor <br /> H. E. Wilder, and all members of the Council. Meeting called to order by the <br /> Mayor. <br /> A representative of the Neon Sign 00. asked permipsion to erect <br /> 11 a neon sign extending beyond the sidewalk line at 4th and Blair Streets, and <br /> 11 the Fire & Water Committee having previously investigated this request, <br /> Chairman Hendershott moved tr~t the requE~st be granted. Motion was seconded <br /> and carried. <br /> Chairman Washburne of the Judiciary COIfIDli ttee presented to the <br /> Council the request of J. S. MagladrY,Ghairman of the Industrial Parade of the <br /> Sunset Trail Pageant, inviting the members of the City Council to ride in the <br /> parade, and requestingc:the Council to enter the fire apparatus in the parade <br /> with proper decorations, and reciting the route of the parade through the <br /> Streets of the City and requesting proper traffic control for the parade route. <br /> On motion the Gouncil accepted the invi tation to enter the parade and ordered <br /> the requests of the letter granted. <br /> ~rhe matter of purchase of hay for the animals in Hendrick's <br /> Park was considered, and a motion was made and seconded ^ tha t the Park Tender be <br /> instructed to reduce the number of elk by four head, leaving four head, which <br /> is deemed sufficient. <br /> It was also ordered tha t the ParI\: 1'ender permi t campers to enter <br /> the Riverview Park during the~time of the Sunset Trail Pageant, and that gener- <br /> alley the attitude of the City toward visitors be one of. hospitallty, and that <br /> all drastic enforcement of regulations be suspended during the Pageant. <br /> C ha i rman Lar ge of the Finan ce Commi. ttee recommended to the I <br /> Council that the present license fee for c ircus8 s be amended by fixing th 13 <br /> maximum charge for one daY:~Js showing a t ~i;200. 00, the car basis rates to remain <br /> as they now are up to that amount. Motion was made, seconded, and carried <br /> that the Ordinance be amended in accordance with such recoTIllnendation. <br /> ehairman Lamb of the Street Committee moved that parking. on <br /> East Broadway between Hillyard and .l!'ranklin Streets be prohibited. The motion <br /> was seconded and carried. <br /> Councilman'Lamb also recommended that a warrant on the Dist.r.i. ct <br /> Improvement Fund for the opening of Almaden Street be issued in t he sum of <br /> $25.00, in favor of Mrs. Florence Stevens, and settlement of all claims be <br /> relinquished by her, and the proper adjustment of the lien on this account be <br /> entered of record. <br /> Chairman Hendershott of the Fire & Water Commi ttee moved that an <br /> addi t iorti light be installed at the swimming pool at Ri verview .Park. The mption <br /> was seconded and carried. <br /> 'Jlhe question of licenses imposed by the State Law upon dogs <br /> already licensed by the City was discussed, but no action taken. <br /> Chairman Zumwalt of the Health Committee reported that lvII'S. 01'1' <br /> is operating an Auto Camp Ground in the Fairmount district. Motion was made, <br /> seconded, and carried that the Ordinance on this subject be enforced. <br /> , <br /> ,I <br /> The Health Committee also repcrted that Mr. arill Mrs. Robertson <br /> were operating the Rest Cottage. <br /> Upon the suggestion of Councilman Lamb, the Felice were directed <br /> to check on the matter of violations of City Ordinance by installation of gas <br /> pumps or oil barrels on the curbing and parking in the City. <br /> Councilman Large moved that City e~ployees be all allowed a half I <br /> holiday on Friday afternoon on account of the Pageant. <br /> The Finance Committee recommended the following estimates be <br /> paid: <br /> Estima te of Stien Bros. for the paving of Kincaid Street <br /> from 13th Avenue to the South line of Kincaid Addition: <br /> $12,186.79 <br /> Estima te of Stien Bros. for the paving of the alley --- <br /> be tween Oale and Pearl Sts. fro m 5th to 6th Avenues: <br /> 1,441.21 <br /> ~ <br />
