M., April 14, 1930. Council was called to order by Mayor H. E. Wilder <br />with all Councilmen present except Monroe and Washburne. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular meeting of ~~ch 10, 1930, and of the adjourned meet- <br />ing of March 2;1, 1930, were read and app,roved. <br /> <br />~~. Dan Johnston, attorney, presented a petition of property owners fo~ the <br />vacation of Commercial Avenue from the East line of Jackson Street to the West lin <br />of Adams Street. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The following resolut ion vacting Conmercial Avenue from the East line of <br />Jackson Street to the West line of Adams Street was read and motion made, seconded <br />and carried to adopt the same: <br /> <br />BEFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, OREGON. <br /> <br />" <br />In the Matter of the Vacation of Commercial <br />Avenue from the East line of Jackson Street <br />to the West line of Adams Street, being located <br />between Blocks 2 and 3 of Riverwood, an addition <br />to the Cit,y of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a petition has been filed by Walters-Bushong Lumber Co~, Inc., <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Henry Wagner and Dolly Wagner, his wife, and George C. Stanley and Molla E. Stan- <br /> <br />ley, his wife, praying for the vacation of Commercial Avenue between the east line <br />of Jackson Street and the west line of Aliams Street in Riverwood, an addition to <br /> <br />'i <br />II <br />i' <br />ti <br />I <br />;1 <br />I: <br />,I <br />'I <br /> <br />I <br />I, <br />)1 <br /> <br />the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon; and it appears from said petition that <br />the peti tioners are the owners of all the property adjacent to that portion of <br />said street proposed to be vacated. <br />It is therefore ordered that the Recorder of the City of Eugene, Oregon, shal <br /> <br />.1 <br /> <br />issue no tices con taining a description o:f the street proposed to be vacated, which <br /> <br />Ii" <br />i, said no tices shall be published by posting three of such notices in three of the <br />most public places adjacent to said dedicated street and by pu'blishing the same in <br />a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Eugene, Lane County, <br />Oregon, for thirty days previous to the hearing of said petition; and that a <br />hearing on said petition be had at the regular meeting of the City Council of the <br />City of Eugene to be held on Monday, the 26th day of May, 1930, in the Council <br />Room in the City Hall of the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, at 7:30 o'clock <br /> <br />P. Bryson, <br />Ci ty Recorder. <br /> <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />.Mr. Westbrooke of the Seventh Day Aliventists stated to the Council that the <br />Ci ty had taken about one -third of the 10 t owned by them at 22n(l and Columbia <br />Streets for street purposes and had assessed the paving against the lot as well <br />and asked for an adjustment. The matter was referred to the street committee, <br />City Engineer, and City Attorney. <br /> <br />Chairman Lamb of the Street Cornmittee reported that Mr. Moore wanted bicycle <br />racks, permitted for the storage of boy';s bicycles, on the streets, and while re- <br />garding the matter as something as an experiment suggested that it might he found <br />an advantage and moved that any bicycle shop be allowed the privilege of erecting <br />bicycle racks in the street in front of their place of business under the directio <br />of the Chief of Police for an experimental period of 30 days.
