C. Clubb be sent to the National Conference on City Planning to be held <br />at.Denver the week of 'June 23rd, and that the City make arrangements to pay his <br />expenses on said trip. Motion was made, seconded, and carried that the request. <br />be cgranted with the understanding tha t the expense of the trip should be paid <br />frOm the emergency fund. ' <br />e <br /> <br />A communication from the City Engineer suggesting a creation of a department <br />ofcassessments was read and on motion was referred to the City Engineer, City <br />Attorney, Treasurer, and Recorder. <br /> <br />The Police Committee requested and was granted further time to report on the <br />ordinance for the appointment of special policemen for indefinite terms. <br /> <br />Nine Sidewalk Assessment Ordinances were read the first time and laid over. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Five Sidewalk Improvement Ordinances were read the first time, and passed <br />their second and third readings by ti tle by unanimous consent under suspension of <br />the rule, and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, <br />all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinances were declared passed and <br />numbered from 7786 to 7790, both numbers inclusive. <br /> <br />. ' <br /> <br />The committee appointed to draft the sale of milk and milk products in the <br />City of Eugene presented an ordinance to the council with a recommendation for its <br />adoption, and a general discussion followed, and the council listened to remarks <br />from Hr. E. U. Lee, Mr. Junkins, 1\'11'. Swango, and Mr. Gribsko. The ordinance was <br />not read, but after this discussion was referred to the health committee with the <br />understanding tha tit should be reported back to the council at the regular mee ting <br />on June 9th. <br /> <br />The council was advised that the Odd Fellows Band expected to give a series <br />of summer evening concerts at the band stand in River View Park, and that they had <br />met with difficulty in having proper light facilities and in getting the chairs <br />back and forth to the park.
