E.Wilder, with all Councilmen present. n:--_ <br /> "- <br /> Chairman Edwards of the JUdiciary Committee requested and was granted <br /> further time for the consideration of a proposed ordinance relating to gasoline <br /> trUcks. <br /> The Finance 'Commi ttee, by Chairman Large , recommended the allowance of <br /> Engineer's first and final estimate of il,420.83 to Nels Jorgenson for paving the <br /> alley between 13th and 14th Avenues from Hilyard to Alder Streets, and bills of <br /> W. H. Dix, $6.00, and C. F.Wilder, $5.68, ~or labor fixing the City Hall door <br /> and C. F. 'Wilder, $13~50, for door closer. Motion was made and seconded that said <br /> claims be allowed. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay, <br />. none. <br /> . <br /> Chairman Large of the Finance COlnmittee recommended that the City pur- <br /> chase for sinking fund investments the following bonds: , <br /> From Geo. Inc .:: . <br /> '$10,000 Multnomah County School ]District #1 (Portland) at 4-1%, due 12_15-35, <br /> at 102.32 to yield 3.90%.. . <br /> 8,000 Lane County School ,District #4 (Eugene) 4!%, due 11-1,..34 at 101.42 <br /> to yield 4.25%. <br /> Motion was made and seconded that the recommendation be adopted and that the <br /> ,Treasurer be instructed to purchase said bonds for sinking fund investments. <br /> The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. <br /> City Attorney Calkins reported that the father of a boy who was injured <br /> on a guy wire of a radio pole on top of the butte had been to see him regarding <br /> the injury, but that he was not advised as to just what their claim is. The <br /> matter was referred to the Judiciary Committee for investigation. <br /> . A remonstrance against the disturbances caused by the loading and un- <br /> loading of freight from the Consolidated Truck Lines in the neighborhood of 5th <br /> and Charnelton Streets was read and referred to the Judiciary Committee. <br /> A motion was made, seconded, and carried that the Oity allow $12.50 <br /> toward the expense of W~ W. Larwood, Electrical Inspector, with the understanding <br /> that the Eugene Water Board contributes a similar amount to enable Mr. Larwood to <br /> attend the annual meeting of the International Association of Electrical Inspect- <br /> ors at Salem, Oct. 5th, 6th, and 7th. <br /> A report of the Chamber of Commerce Radio Committee was placed on file. <br /> An Ordinance to improve Chula Vista Boulevard from the North line of <br /> Indiana Avenue to a line 227.4 feet North of Indiana Avenue, in the City of Eugene <br /> by paving the same with concrete paving was read, and a remonstrance against the <br /> improvemen t of said street was presented and Geo. Brown addressed the Council for <br /> the remonstrators, and C. ,F. Hyde addressed the Council urging the improvement. <br /> I ~ motion was made, seconded, and carried that the objection be over-ruled. Said <br /> Ordinance was read the second time, and passed its third reading by title by un- <br /> animous consent under suspension of the rule, and was placed on its final passage. <br /> The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, nO,ne. The Ordinanc <br /> was declared passed and numbered 8271. <br /> An Ordinance approving and adopting the plans and specifications of the <br /> City Engineer for the improvement of Chula'Vista Boulevard from the North line <br /> of Indiana Avenue to a line 227.4 feet North of Indiana Avenue, by paving the <br /> same with concrete paving was read the first time, and passed its second and third <br />, readings by title by unanimous Gonsent under suspension of the rule, and was <br />. placed ,on its final passage.
