M.', pursuant to adjournment of January <br />11th, 1932, with all Council members presen t except L~rge. 'There being no <br />business to transact at this time it was'moved-; seconded, and carried that the <br />,Council adjourn to meet at8 o'cloc;k P. M. <br /> <br />The Council convened at 8 o'clock P. M. with all Councilmen present <br />except Large. The Recorder being absent, S. M. Calkins wa:3 appointed and sworn <br />to act as recorder pro tem to take the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Thereon the Mayor resubmitted the name of R. W. Rundlett as his appointee <br />for building inspector to serve for the ensuing year. Upon motion seconded and- <br />unanimously carried, the Council refUsed to confirm the appointment-of Mr. <br />Rund.lett. <br /> <br />'--'''' <br />~ <br /> <br />l~' <br />.....~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />It was then moved, seconded and unanimously carried that $160.00 be <br />taken from the Civic Emergency Fund and be placed in the unemployment fUnd, and <br />tha t the remainder be turned over to Mrs. Ady for chari ty work, and the Ci ty <br />Treasurer is hereby directed to make these transfers. <br /> <br />Thereupon the Mayor stated that he wished to make a formal resignation of <br />his position as Mayor, to be acted upon by the Council at once, and stated that <br />it would be supplement ed by a wri t ten s ta temen t amplying the reasons for hi s <br />resignation, and coincidently therewith submitted the name of H. E. Wilder as <br />Building Inspector. Thereupon it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried <br />that the re signation be accep te d, and tha t the appointment of H. E.' Wilder as <br />Buildi~g Inspector be confirmed. <br /> <br />Motion was made and seconded tha t H. E.Wilder, Building Inspector, <br />be placed on the regular payroll at a salary of $225.00 per month, and that the <br />warrant for said salary be drawn each month with the rest of the regular salary <br />warrants without further order of the Council,. The ayes and nays. were called, <br />all present voting aye, nay, none, absent Large. ' <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was moved, seconded and unanimOUSly carried that Councilman Lamb be <br />elected President of the Council to serve for the ensuing year. Thereupon <br />President Lamb assumed the chairmanship of the meeting. <br /> <br />Councilman Hendershott then presehted a resolution, which was unanimous- <br />ly adopted as follows: tlThat the Common Council desires to go on record as thank- <br />ing Mr. Wilder, the outgoing Mayor, for the sple~did cooperation he has given the <br />council for the last three years and to express their regret at his passing as <br />the Mayor of the City of Eugene.1f <br /> <br />Mr. Hendershott then stated that he took a great pleasure in presenting <br />in nomination the name of Elisha Large as Mayor of the City of Eugene to succeed <br />H. E. Wilder, resigned. Motion was made and seconded that nominations be closed, <br />and Elisha Large declared elected as Mayor. Thereuipon every member present <br />voted aye, and Elisha Large was declared nominated and elected as Mayor of the <br />City of Eugene to succeed H. E. Wilder, the outgoing 1~yor, and to serve until <br />his successor should be elected and qualified. <br /> <br />On motion the Council adjourned to meet on the 25th day of January, 1932, <br />at 7:30 o'clock P.
