<br /> properties on October 22nd and as previously directed by the City Council.
<br /> Councilman Lamb recommended that for the months of October, November,
<br /> i and December the allowance to Leo Decke.r'in the maintenance of the transient
<br /> relief work be increased from $15.00 to $25.00 per month, and also that the
<br /> action of the Recorder and Mayor, agreeing to pay $25.00 matching call equal sum
<br /> by the County' to purchase a cooking range for Mr. Decker, be approved, and a
<br /> war1"'ant drawn therefor. Motion was made and seconded to adopt the recommendation

<br /> An Ordinance levying assessments for the construction of a cement ,side-
<br /> walk on the E:ast side of Charnel ton Street between 17th Sijreet and the alley
<br /> in the City of Eugena, Oregon, was read the first time and objections called for
<br /> and none hear'd, and ordinance passed its second and third readings b:y unanimous
<br /> under suspen:::::ion of the .rule and was placed upon its final passage. The ayes
<br /> and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was
<br /> declared passed and numbered 8315.
<br /> An Ordinance prohibiting the keeping of bees within the City of Eugene
<br /> coming on for consideration, Chairman Zumwalt of the Health Committee moved that
<br /> this ordinance be indefinitely postponed. Motion was seconded and carried.
<br /> Chairman Simon, of the Police Coromi ttee recommended that the Oi ty employ
<br /> Mr. Harold Sl{:ipworth as a J:,egular patrolman, commencing October 21st at the
<br /> regular patrolmanrs salary of ~112.50 per month, and also that the City employ
<br /> Frank Cronin as a Desk Sargent to work from 8 orclock P. M. to 7 orclock A. M.
<br /> at a salary of $50.00 per month, cOlTImencing October 25th, and that these men . I
<br /> be placed upon the regular payroll and warrants drawn at the time regular salary
<br /> Warrants are paid. Motion was made and seconded to adopt the recommendation.
