Council was called to order <br /> by Mayor Large, with all Councilmen present except Reid, Zumwalt, and Edwards. <br /> Prior to the meeting of the City Council, a meeting of Taxpayers was <br /> held at the Council chambers in the City Hall at 7:30 o'clock P.M., at which <br /> I time consideration of the published budget was o:pen to -the public for dis- <br /> cussion; a mot ion having been made to include in the budget for the office of <br /> Milk Inspector, an item of $180.00 for gas and oil, and to deduct said a~ount <br /> I from the Emergency item, and said mot ion was sec onded and carrie d, and the <br /> I budget was thereupon adopted by the unanimous consent of those presant in the <br /> I <br /> i pudget meeting. . <br /> 'I <br /> The above matters were disposed of prior to the meeting of the Council. <br /> I <br /> i <br /> I <br /> , Mayor Large called the Council to order at 8:00 o'clock P.M. pursuant <br /> to adjournment of October 23rd, and the Ordirznce levyil~ the Annual Tax <br /> d Levy for the City of Eugene, for the Fiscal Year of 1934 was read the first <br /> i time and passed it s second and third readings by title under suspension of <br /> the rule by unanimou s co nsent of the Council, and ~as placed upon its final <br /> " passage. ~'he ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye five, nay <br /> none, absent three. The Ordinance w~s declared passed and numbered 8364. <br /> A report of the Judiciary Committee was nmde that, under the power <br /> invested in them by the Council, they had accepted the proposition of Oren <br /> Davis as submitted. Modified, however, to the extent that Mr. Davis had <br /> agreed to compute the interest on his Tax Certificate at six per cent instead <br /> of twelve per cent, thereby making a reduction of ~99.52, and that he had <br /> surrendered -his certificate and tax receipt, together with his check-for <br /> $112.77 t 0 malee the difference between the 'amounts to b~ applied tipon his I <br /> liens and the amount due him upon his certificate, and recorllinended that a warra t <br /> be drawn in favor of Mr. Davis from the Emergency fund for the sum of $633.82, <br /> wi th the understanding that Mr. -Davis would immediately apJ)ly the warrant and <br /> his check im payment of delinquent assessments and inte.rest as included in the <br /> original statement. A motion 'was made and seconded that the reported action <br /> of the Judiciary Committee be confirmed by the Counc il, and the warrant be <br /> drawn as recommenrred. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting ay~ <br /> fi ve, nay none, absent three, and it was so ordered. <br /> On motion the Council adjourned. <br /> R. s.
