Council was called to order by Mayor Large, ."-.Ji/ <br /> -,-.r <br /> with all Councilmen present except Reid and Harris. <br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of October ~th, the meeting of October 23rd, <br /> and the adjourned meeting of November 2nd, 1933, were read and approved. <br /> Attorney F. C. Heffron personally protested against the calling of a special <br /> election for the sublnission of the question of a sewage disposal plant, unless we <br /> can be certain that ail cities and towns in the valley are going to enter into the <br /> project of river purification, and he also submitted a written protest which was <br /> placed on file. <br /> .- Mr. Schaefer, a property owner at 2nd and High Streets, objected to the row <br /> of shacks along the river bank on the Eugene Sand and Gravel Company's property; <br /> claiming that the conditions were unsanitary. Mr. McKy, for the Gravel Company, <br /> stated that their position was mere~y that of a property owner attemptiIlg to give <br /> give relief to destitute people without compensation, and that they would abide by <br /> the act of the Council. This matter was referred to the Chief of Police, Building <br /> Inspector, and Health Officer with power to act. <br /> Attorney King appeared before the Council anticipating consideration of the <br /> Milk Pasteurization Ordinance, but because Councilman Harris was out of the City <br /> the ordinance was laid over for further consideration on November 27th. <br /> The Judiciary Committee recommended that the request for the reduction of <br /> the Shooting Gall'ery license- be laid on the table. On motion the recommendation <br /> was adopted. <br /> At this time Councilman Reid appeared in Council. <br /> I Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Committee reported the following bills <br /> to the Council with a recommendation that they be allowed, and motion was made, <br /> seconded and carried that warrants be drawn for same.
