This matter was laid over for two weeks. <br /> Councilman Reid appeared in Council at this ti me . <br /> Councilman Harris of the Park Board recommended that the City allow an <br /> accou~t of $13.50 for brick to be used in the construction of the fLr~places, and <br /> that provision be made for the construction of four stoves at Skinner's Butte <br /> Park, and one in Hendrick's Park. Also that the Park Tender is badly in need of <br /> a. car, particularly as a means of conveying S.E.R.A. workmen back and forth to jobs <br /> in t he park. The recommendations of Councilman Harris were adopted by the Council, <br /> including an instruction to Councilman Bond to endeavor to purchase a car for the <br /> required purposes at a price around $200.00. . <br /> I <br /> The Police Committee, by Chairman Simon, recommended the approval of the <br /> application o,f J'.Uller and Sylvester for a beer license at the place formerly known <br /> as Jake's Place at 746 Par}{ Street. On motion the recommendation was adopted. <br /> Report of the Fire Department for the Honth of June, re port s 0 f the Police <br /> Matron for June and July, and of the Engineer and Police Department for July were <br /> read and filed. . <br />11 The application of F. J. Park for a transfer of his woodsawing license from <br /> 1446 Lawrence Street to 1256 West 8th Avenue, investigated and approved by the <br /> II Chief of Police, was on motion approved by the. Council. <br /> A protest was filed from the Library Board, supported by oral protest from <br /> h <br /> I Fred Fisk and two members- of the Board of the First Christian Church, with <br /> j reference to establishing a wood yard East of the Library building, and Mr. Dugan, <br /> I the party proposing to install the business appeared before the Council and stated <br /> , that,in view of the opposition he would make no attempt to use the lot. No action I <br /> was taken. <br /> A petition for the vacation of the alleys runlung East and West and North and <br /> South between lOth and 11th and Charnelton and Lincoln Streets was read and a <br /> Resolution directing the Recorder fo file the petition and publish and serve <br /> notices as required by law, and fixing a time for hearing objections for September <br /> 24, 1934 was read and on motion duly seconded and carried was adopted. <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> I 'WHEREAS , the property owner owning the property between the <br />, <br /> streets Charnelton and Lincoln, on the East and West, and lOth Avenue <br /> e <br /> West and 11th Avenue West, on the North and South, has presented to <br /> the Common Council a petition praying fore the vacation of the alleys <br /> running East rold West, and Horth and South through said block, said . <br /> petition particularly describing said alleys. <br /> , <br /> Therefore " <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMHON COUJ:JCIL- of the Ci ty of Eugene that <br /> I the City Recorder be and he is hereby directed to file said :petition <br /> and 110 issue, publish and seTve notices as required by law, notifying <br />I c <br /> ,all persons that the petition is set for hearing of all objections, <br />I on the 24th day of September, 1934, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. in the office <br />I of the City Recorder in the city hall in Eugene.
