I ;.j.., !'~ An Ordinance levying assessments for the repair of the sidewalk on the ~~~East side of ~ashington street between Oheshire ~treet and end of the plat, in the I,.,iI~City of Eugene, Lane Oounty, Oregon, which had been read the first time and con- :mtinued at the request of Oouncilman Lamb was again continued until the next meeting. City Attorney Calkins had yet to get in touch with Mr. O. H. Howard, of Route 1, Eugene. A communication from the Oregon State Motor Association was presented concerning the City purchasing a state flag. It was the consensus of opinion of the council that this be not done. City Attorney Calkins pointed out that he was bringing to trial the Ohambers case for the dumping of garbage. He wanted the council to know that he fel that he has a very difficult case to win but in order to settle the many complaints that have been received, he was taking it to trial. . Oouncilman $imon reported that Councilman Bond is now looking for cars for the Police Department and the Police Matron. . Councilman Lamb then asked Mr. Bond to present his statement concerning jthe purchase of certain machinery for the street Department from Mr. Chet Daniels. jMr. ,Bond stated that in his estimation the said machinery was very reasonably priced lat $700.00 and that the city should purchase it. It was moved and seconded that I the city purchase this machinery from Mr. Daniels for the sum of $700.00. Ayes and lnays were called, Councilmen voting aye, eight, nay, none; absent none.
