<br />r"" 466 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon <br />May 11, 1936 <br /> <br />~~ The minutes of the regular meeting of the common council held at the hour of <br />r:~ 7:30 o'clock P. M:., May 11, 1936. Council was called to order by Mayor Large, all <br />~: councilmen present except Simon and Reid. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Professor Edwin T. Hodge formerly of' this city addressed the council concern- <br />ing the assessments claimed upon a portion of lots 3 and 4, in block 30, of the <br />original plat of Fairmount. Mr. Hodge pointed out that on three different occasions, <br />the city treasurer had informed him that his property was free of all incumbrances <br />and asked that the council instruct the treasurer to cancel the assessments in <br />1 question. Dr. Harris, of the Judiciary Committee, stated that he believed Mr. Hodge <br />would have to be held responsible for the assessments. Mayor Large requested that <br />the committee, City Attorney and City Engineer be granted another two weeks to <br />further study this problem. <br /> <br />At this time Councilman Reid appeared. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The Judiciary Committee, by Dr. Harris, reporting on the NYA Program, asked for <br />an additional two weeks time due to the fact that the faculty committee members had <br />2 been unable to call a meeting. <br /> <br />Mrs. J. L. Elsensohn's request for waiver of assessments on lot 14, block 11, <br />3' II Fairmount Addition, was denied. <br /> <br />The Judiciary Committee reporting on Mrs. Polley ~ilsonls claim for damages <br />sustained in a sidewalk fall, stated that an offer had been made to Mrs. Wilson for <br />4 settlement, but as yet they had not received an answer from her and the matter was <br />held for further consideration. <br /> <br />It was the recommendation of the Judiciary Committee that the chicken and bee <br />ordinance stand as it now is and that the proposed ordinance be tabled. The recom- <br />5 mendation was approved by the council. <br /> <br />Councilman Hendershott of the Finance Committee presented the bills for the <br />I month of April with the recommendation that warrants be drawn for the same. It was <br />I seconded and the ayes and nays were called.
