Ruch, 1369 Agate Street, asked for reI i ef ~in the way of obstruct i on <br />II of sewer that is used for drainage of Agate and Columbia Streets, pointing out that <br />II if there is any rain other than a light one that the sewers backup in that neighbor- <br />~hOOd. City Engineer Clubb stated that there were six or eight 8-inch sewers dumping <br />~I into one 16-inch sewer which made it impossible to contain all the water. Moriarity, Chairman of the hacing Committee of <br />!I the local post of Veterans of Foreign Wars, was presented. M., April 26, 1937, City Hall. Mayor Large called the <br />to order. All councilmen were present except Messrs. Carlson and Hanns. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />.: <br /> <br />Req~est of the Lane County Court, by Judge Fred Fisk, to nullify the in- <br />terest charges on assessments on sewer between Oak and Pearl ~treets, Mulligan's <br />Donation and Skinner's Donation, Public ~quares, was denied,by the Judiciary Com- <br />mittee and upon motion made, seconded and duly carried, therecoMnendation of the <br />Committee was approved. <br /> <br />II <br />'I An ordinance granting to OREGON-ELECTRIC RAIL~AYCOMPANY, a corporation, <br />I: its successors and assigns, the franchise or right to lay, construct, and maintain <br />I: railway tracks and to operate trains and cars thereover, and to transport passen- <br />I!'!l gers, freight, mail, baggage and express thereon, and to erect, construct, ~aintain, <br />and operate power, telephone and telegraph lines in the city of Eugene, Oregon had <br />.-fl its second reading and was held over for final passage and public hearing at the <br />7 Ii meeting of i11ay 10, 1937. <br /> <br />11 At the recommendation of the Finance Commi ttee th~ $;245.00 offer of J. ThIS actIon ~as agreed upon by the }olice Committee. <br />I :1 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilman Hendershott, chairman of the Finance CJIDmittee, recommended <br />rejection of the $1000 offer of the Church of Jesus Christ Jf Latter Day Saints <br />for Lots 3, 4 and 5, Block 1, Dorris ~ddition and made a co'~nter-offer of $1500.00 <br />for the consideration of the Church Committee. The recomme~dation of the Finance <br />Committee upon ffiotion ~ade, seconded and carried was duly a~cepted. <br /> <br />The ~inance Committee rejected, the ~462.50 o~fer 8f R. F. Jepsen for <br />Lot 2, Block 1, Gilmore Addition and extended a counter-offer of ~600.00 for the <br />consideration of Mr. Jepsen. Upon motion made and seconded the council unanimously <br />agreed to accept the recommendation of the Committee. . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />It was the recomrr:endation of the Finance Committee that the city of Eugene <br />deed the South 7~ feet of the ~est 100 feRt of Lot 8, Block 25, College hill Park <br />Addition at the rate of 14.05 per front foot to Parson and Company. The Mayor and <br />Recorder were instructed to execute the necessary deed. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried this recoIT@endation was duly approved. <br /> <br />of the <br />School <br />Board, <br />!Latter <br /> <br />The Recorder reported that it was the opinion of hustin Dodd, chairman <br />~chool Board Finance Committee, that if the heat bill for the office of the <br />Eoard in the City Hall was in excess of the rental now being paid by the <br />then he felt the necessity for an increase.
