I <br /> "0'"; <br /> "C1) The minutes of the regular meeting of the common council held at the hour <br /> ~ <br /> 1 II of 7:30 o'clock P. M., June 14, 1937, City Hall. The meeting was called to order <br /> by Mayor Large. All councilmen were present except Mr. Hendershott. <br /> The minutes of the previous meeting were presented and as there were no <br /> 2 corrections, they were ordered filed as presented. <br /> I Letter from the Salvation Army requesting a contribt,tion of $50.00 to tide <br /> them over until the fall financial campaign, was presented by the Recorder. Mr. <br /> II Roy E. Morse, Advisory Board Chairman of the organization, stated that prior to <br /> this meeting he had gone into the relief fund account of ttle city and the fact was <br /> II di sclosed that the account was overdrawn to the extent of ~;88.. 70. Mr. Morse cited <br /> the urgency of the condition existing and gave definite as~:urance that this would <br /> I be the last request until late in fall and asked if the council could see fit to <br /> I grant this request in spite of the fact that the fund is at: the present time over- <br /> II drawn. It was moved and seconded that the Mayor and Recorder issue a warrant pay- . <br /> able to the Salvation Army in the amount of ~50.00. The ayes and nays were called, <br /> II councilmen voting aye, Lamb, Reid,'Page, Hanns, Farrington" Bond and Carlson; nay, <br /> 3 I: none; absent, Hendershott. <br /> 'I <br /> f II <br /> II At this time Herbert Wiltshire, representing the lo(:al Pageant Association, <br /> Ii <br /> 4 asked the council for their consideration in granting the following requests: <br /> I <br /> ,I <br /> 'i 1. Complete closing of Willamette Street from 8th to 11th from <br /> Ii <br /> the morning of July 19 to midnight of July 24th:. inclusive. <br /> II Referred to Street Committee. <br /> 2., Remittance of carnival license fee to the Pageant Association. <br /> II The carnival is to be featured in conjunction W:L th the t'ageant <br /> II and is to operate for a period of one week. Granted. <br /> II 3. That the police officers dress in the old-time uniforms to be <br /> II <br /> il provided by the Association. Granted. I <br /> ,I <br /> ii 4. Permission to erect a stockade with the approval of the Building <br /> ,I ., <br /> Ii Inspector on Willamette, somewhere between 8th and 11th Streets. <br /> i: Granted. <br /> I' 5. All business concerns wishing to construct false fronts be given <br /> ,I <br /> Ii special permission to do so.
