Mayor Elisha Large presided over <br /> the meeting. Councilmen present were: Messrs. Lamb, Hendershott, Reid, Page, <br /> 1 Hanns, Farrington, Bond and Carlson; absent, none. <br /> . <br /> The minutes of the previous meeting, August 22, 1938, were presented and <br /> 2 ordered filed. <br /> I The offe~ of W. E. Pool to assume the contract originally issued to Mrs. <br /> Irene A. McCuistion for tract known as 2&4 Washington Street, was approved by the <br /> 3 Finance Committee and upon motion made and duly seconded, accepted by the council. <br /> I <br /> . The $800.00 cash offer of R. w. Leighton for the East i of Lots 11 and 12, <br /> Block 23, Gross Addition, was accepted by the Finance Committee and upon motion made <br /> /4 and seconded, approved by the council. , <br /> ", <br /> The'offer of Eunice H. Hathaway to pay $400.00 each for Lots 1, 3,4,5" <br /> 6 and 8, Block 9, Hollenbeck's ,Addition, was rejected by the Finance Committee and <br /> a counter-offer of $600~00 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, this recommenda <br /> I 5 tion was duly approved by the council. <br /> The $1000 offer of F. A. Mattin for part of Lots 2 and 3, Block 1, Skinner 's <br /> Donation, located at 132 and 132i East 5th Street, was denied by the Finance Com- <br /> mittee and a counter-offer of $1500.00 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, <br /> I 6 this recommendation was duly approved by the council. <br /> The $86'~00 cash offer of J. R. Jewell for Lot 4 and the North half of <br /> Lot 5, Block 32, Gross Addition, was accepted by the Finance Committee and the <br /> Treasurer's Office authorized to execute the necessary papers in consummation of <br /> /7 the sale. Upon motion made and seconded, this recommendation was duly approved. <br /> The $700.,00 cash off er made by Edith F. Gardiner, on behalf of a client. <br /> I for Lot 6, Block 6, Gross Addition, was denied by the Finance Committee and a counte - <br /> offer of $1000 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, the recommendation of the <br /> I 8 Committee was duly approved by members of the council. <br /> The offer of Otto Hughes to pay $400.00 each for Lot 7, Block 11; Lot 1, , <br /> Block 12; Lot 3, Block 12; Lot 4, Block 12; Lot 5, Block 12 all in Hollenbeck's Ad- <br /> dition, was rejected by the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of $500.00 ex- <br /> tended for each lot. Upon motion made and seconded, this recommendation was duly <br /> /9 approved. <br /> Offer of Donald B. Parks to pay $200.00 cash for part of Lot 2, Block 20, <br /> Fairmount addition, said lot being 100 x 160 feet on the West side of Walnut Street, <br /> was denied bY the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of $400.00 extended. Upon <br /> ,10 motion made and seconded, the recommendation of the Committee was duly approved. <br /> The $600.00 offer of E. H. Hall for property east of R. A. Babb property <br /> on Fairmount Boulevard, being one-half of property lying east of the street running <br /> to Longview Street or about 55 feet by 160 feet, was presented. 'J.1he Finance Com- <br /> mittee agreed to accept the price for 55 feet or less frontage to oe determined <br /> when property is surveyed. Upon motion made and seconded,-this recommendation was <br /> } 11 duly approved by the council. . . <br /> . The $900.00 offer of Arthur Jackson for a metes and bounds description <br /> on the West side of Washington Street known as 236 Washington Street, was denied <br /> by the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of.$1200.00 extended. Upon motion made <br /> I 112 and seconded, the recommendation of the Committee was duly approved. <br /> The $300.00 offer of Jack Aasterud, $50.00 down and $12.50 per month plus <br /> 0% interest per year on unpaid balance for property at the Northwest corner of 25th <br /> and .University known as 2466 University Street, was approved by the Finance Committe <br /> ,13 and .confirmed by the council. <br /> Offer of Sam Rugh Realty Company oy J. A. Plummer for client, in the amoun <br /> of $186~14 for Lot 1, Block 3, Agate Plat, was denied by the Finance Committee and a <br /> I Qounter-offer of $223~44 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, this recommendati n <br /> / 14 was duly approved. <br /> The $30.00 cash offer of F. E. Semon for a part of Lots 2 and 3, Block 27, <br /> Second Addition to Chula Vista Park, was accepted. by the Finance Committee and re- <br /> /lb commendation approved by the council. <br /> The $500.00 cash offer of Dr. R. E. Faust for the East 1/2 of Lot 12, <br /> Bloc.k 5', Gross Addition, was denied by the Finance Committee with no counter-offer <br /> 16 extended.
