Hendershott, Lamb, Reid, Page, Farrington, Bond, <br />11....(, Hanns; absent, Carlson., <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meeting November 28, 1938, were presented and <br />2 ordered filed. " <br /> <br />Mr. W. L.. Lyon, representative of the,NYA,asked permission from the council I <br />to be allowed to take with them the materials and fixtures which they plan to <br />install in the buildings in Skinne~ts Butte Park at the completion of their occupan y " <br />provided, of course, that they do so without causing any damage to the buildings. <br />3 Upon motion made and seconded, this request was unanimously granted. <br />I <br />Frank B. Reid, attorney, presented a petition signed by 49 bakeries and <br />grocery store owners requesting strict enforcement of the peddler's code of the <br />city of Eugene to prevent house to house sale of bread and other bakery products <br />now being practiced. The request was referred to the Judiciary Committee and City <br />4 Attorney. <br />I <br />Mr. E.D. Anderson of Preston and Hales requested special permission of the <br />council to have a zone established on Park Street in the rear of his place of <br />business for the purpose of reserving a place for his car which is used as a com- <br />mercial vehicle. After a brief discussion, it was pointed out that other business <br />houses with back entrances on Park Street had such zones. Upon motion duly made <br />5 and seconded, this request was unanimously granted. <br />/ <br />In the matter of the Lilly Steen injury claim, the Judiciary Committee made a <br />written request to the Council re~uesting that the $550.00 claim be not "allowed and <br />6 it was so ordered. <br />, <br />The $50.00 cash offer of L.J. Plowman for the following property: The east <br />46 feet of the following: Beginning at a point 272.8 feet North of a point 114 I <br />feet west from the point of intersection of the North line of C~oss street with <br />the West line of Polk Street, thence running West 216 feet and thence North 123.2 <br />feet, thence East 216 feet and thence South 123.2 feet to the place of beginning, <br />was denied by the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of $90.80 extended. Upon <br />7 motion made and seconded, this recommendation was duly approved. <br />I " <br />The $500.00 cash offer of E.H. Peterson for client J.C. Watts for tot 5, <br />Block 6, in Huddleston's Addition, was denie~ by the Finance Committee and a <br />counter-offer- of $650.00 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, this recommenda- <br />8 tion was duly approved. <br />/ <br />The $850.00 offer of M.cCully Realty Company for client Cyril C. Ball for Lot 2 <br />Block 14, College Hill Park Addition, was denied by the Finance Committee and a <br />coun.ter-offer of $950.0.0 extended. It was pointed out that $450.00 has already bee <br />paid on Lot 1 and they wish this pa~ment to apply as down payment on the two lots. <br />9 The recommendation of the Committee was approved by the Council. <br />" <br />The $100.00 offer of Ella A. Day for the North 95 feet of the strip lying <br />next to Lot 6, Block 3, Grand Prairie Addition, was rejected by the Finance Committ e <br />10 with no counter-offer extended and it was so ordered by the council. <br />/ <br />The Finance Committee reported the following bills to the Council with a re- <br />commendation that they be allowed and motion was made, seconded, and carried that <br />warrants be drawn for the same.
