Upon motion made and seconded the <br /> .......... <br /> resolution was unanimously approved. <br /> \ <br /> . <br /> t RES O,L U T + 0 N , , <br /> . <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that the report of <br /> the Water.Board and of the City Recorder, directing that the' sewage 'disposal I <br /> ..Y rates charged upon water users be'maintained at present as they now are established' <br /> 27 by,Ordinance No~ '8589, be and the same is hereby adopted and approved. <br /> t <br /> At this time the City Recorder reported that Perr,y Price, serving as City-County <br /> Juvenile Officer for a number of years, had been appointed to the State Parole Board and asked the <br /> council's approval in the appointment of Lloyd Mattison, to succeed Mr. Price. The Recorder <br /> further reported that the le.neCounty Court was paying Mr. Price a full month's salary for the <br /> month of August, by reason of the fact. that Mr. Price had given his' time in training the new o'fficer <br /> for his duties, and asked the council's permission to carry out the same plan in thepaym.entof <br /> his salary from the city. Upon motion made and seconded, the Recorder wa~ instructed to issue the <br /> full xsalary for the month of August and' Lloyd :Mattison's salary for two weeks in August, adjustment <br /> to be made from the Emergency Fund. Further the Recorder was instructed to write a letter of <br /> 'A commendation for the 'Very fine se11Vices rendered by Mr. Price and it was so ordered by the <br /> 28 council members. . , . <br /> , <br /> The Recorder reported that the Signal traffic lights were beginning to burn out and' <br /> asked Mr. Stocker of Castelloe and Stocker Electric Company to report on the same. Mr. Stocker <br /> stated that it would be more economical to replace all the lights before they burn out instead of <br /> ),f replacing them one by one as they burn out. . The matter was referred to the Police COlIDD.ittee to <br /> 29 report at the next meeting of the council. . <br /> At this time councilma n Hanns asked, consideration for Hart Larsen in his req~st to <br /> continue the use of the sign at his place of business. The request had been.denied at the last <br /> council meeting because the sign did not conform to the permit issued. Mr. Hanns paointed out <br /> that an error had been made in the calculations of'preparing the sign and that the sign was I <br /> eleven inches lower than requirements but as there was a clearance of eighteen feet, recommended <br /> lVthat the'request be granted. The ayes and nays were called, councilmen vpting aye: Reid, Hanns. <br /> 30 Page, and Koppe; nay: Iamb, Bond and Carlson; absenT: Farrington. The request was declared granted. <br /> . . The Recorder reported that he ha d received a number of telephone calls and complaints <br /> concerning the failure to-have lights in Hendrick's Park and stated that between the stealing and <br /> ),/the breaking of lights and fixtures in the park that it had. been diffioult to keep the park lighted. <br /> 31 A discussion was had on the subjeot but no aotion was taken at th.is time. <br /> Counoilman Page reported that some work was being dona in Hemrick's Park on the road <br /> ~ near Dr. Miller's residenoe and asked that the matter be referred to the City Engineer for <br /> 32 investigation to protect the city's interest and it was so ordered. <br /> \ Upon motion made and seconded the meeting of the council was adjouI"n$3d. <br /> '- C.
