The Reeommendation was <br />18v unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee reported that Lane County had notified the City of <br />Eugene by registered letter that they had received an offer for Lot 19, Block 3, <br />Riverwood Addition. Upon recommendation of the Finance Committee the council <br />authorized the city to pay the taxes,$27.06, and take a deed on this lot from Lane <br />19v County. The recolrrmendation was approved. . <br /> <br />A strip of land 5.17 feet wide running east from Chambers street, a <br />distance of 231 feet on the north side of 11th Street, upon the recommendation,of <br />the Finance Corrrmittee, was ordered removed from the list of saleable properties <br />and held for future street pu~poses in case West 11th Street shou~a be widened. <br />20v The recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The Finance Cornnittee recommended a counter~ $550.00 for each lot, on <br />'the offer of L. J. Christensen of $510.00 each for Lots 2 and 3, Block 23, Huddles- <br />tons Extended Addition; cash April 1st, on Lot 2, Lot 3, 20% down, two years on <br />2l~ balance. The recon~endation of the committee was approved. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was the recommendation of the Finance Committee that the southeast corne <br />of 6th and Polk Streets (Lot 6, Block 2, Campbell's Addition )be taken off the list <br />saleable properties and held intact for future fire station pruposes. It was point <br />out the property is owned by the county, and the city would accept no offers on thi <br />property but if the county does accept offers, the city will protect its interest. <br />22"' Upon motion made and seconded this recorrnnendation was approved. <br /> <br /> <br />Councilman Farrington reported that the Finance Committee had held a dis- <br />cussion with Paul D. Green concerning property in College Hill Park that Mr. Green <br />had deeded to the city a number of years ago and it was the request of the committe <br />that the matter of? settlement of the lots be held until the next meeting of the <br />23/ council~ The request was granted. <br /> <br />It was the recownendation of the.Finance Committee that a 10 ft x 2 inch <br />by 10 ft x e inch private office be constructed in the northeast corner of the <br />treasurer's office in the city hall, making other necessary changes to properly <br />set the office. The cost, which will be in the neighborhood of ~50.00, to be <br />24v expended from the parking meter fund. .~ ~- <br /> <br />The Finance Committee recommended the following final "compromise and settle <br />ment between the school board-of School District #4 and the Con~on Council. The <br />school board shall pay rent from July 1, 1939 to December, 31, 1939 at the rate of <br />$40.00 per month. Beginning January 1, 1940 and from then on the rent will be at t e <br />rate of 0$50.00 per month, the rental 0f the quarters to be covered by a formal leas <br />extending for a period of one year or longer. Upon motion made and seconded the re <br />commendation was unanimously approved and the City Recorder was insturcted to info <br />the school board of this action. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />Communication was presented from John Dayton, Jr. claiming,car damages as a <br />result of a large lunb blown from a tree while his car was parked on the southwest <br />corner of Broadway at Charnelton Street. The matter was referred to the Judiciary <br />Committee and the City Attorney. <br /> <br />Councilman Farrington, Chairman of the Finance Comrrlittee presented the bill <br />for the month of-February, 1940, with a recommendation that warrants be drawn to pa <br />for the same. The ayes and nays,were called, councilmen voting aye: Reid, Hanns, <br />Farrington, Carlson, Koppe, Barette and Cox.
