Council- <br />men present were M.essrs ~ A. A. Reid, P. J. Hanns, Sam, C. Bond, A. C. Fa rrington, <br />Fred Carlson, E. A. Barette and H. J. Cox, absent: Louis Koppe. <br /> <br />1/ <br /> <br />The minute,s of the previous meeting, Malch 25, were presented and ordered <br />2/ placed on file. <br /> <br />~he Judiciary Conmlittee represented by Councilman Hanns reported on the <br />request of John Dayton, Jr. for damages done to his car by a falling limb and it <br />was :the conmlittee's recorrnnendation ,that the ,request be denied. Upon motion made <br />and seconded the recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />3v <br /> <br />Councilman Farrington" Chairman of the Finance Committee, presented ~he <br />property offers beginning wi th the offer of Henry Whi ttall, ~~150. 00 cash, for Lot s <br />1 and 2, Bloc~ 4, Blair Street Addition (136.8 feet north of Second Avenue on the <br />vvest side of E Street). The Finance Committee recommended the rejection of this <br />offer and motion was made and seconded unanimously approving the recorrnnenda tion <br />of the committee. <br /> <br />4V <br /> <br />, <br />The Finance Committee recoIDrQended the rejection of the offer of John <br />IIakanson, $250.00 cash, for Lots 6, 7, and 8, Block &, Croner's Addition and also <br />a metes and bounds tract lying just west of these lots and East of Filmore Street <br />if extended north ,of 4th (111-173 feet West of the northwest corner of 4th and <br />Almaden Street). Motion was made and seconded unanimously approving the recommenda- <br />tion of the Commi tt ee. <br /> <br />5'11' <br /> <br />I., <br /> <br />The offer of A. D eo Campbell, ~~350. 00 cash, for the South 60 feet of Lots <br />1 and 2, Block 4, Campbell's First Addition (100 feet South of the Southwest corner <br />of 7th and Polk Streets), was presented to the Council. The Finance Cormni t tee <br />recornmended the acceptance of the offer with a provision that, only $25.00 commission <br />be paid instead of ~~50.00. Motion was made and seconded unanimously approving the <br />6...... recommendation of the committee. <br /> <br />7v' <br /> <br />The Finance Committee recOlmnended a counter off,er of ~~600. 00, $50.00 refund <br />if construction starts within 90 days on the offer of E. H. Peterson for client, <br />G. H. Pike, ~~550.00 cash for Lot 2, Block 1, Gilmo.re Addition (100 feet east of the <br />northeast corner of Broadway and Tay+or). Intends to build a home. Motion was <br />made and seconded approving the recolnmendation of the committee. <br /> <br />The Finance COIDrnittee recommended the rejection of the offer ~f Glen E. <br />Hastings for clients, Gladys S. and Paul J_. Heise, $375.00 cash for the South 60 <br />feet of Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, LillIs Addition (100 feet South of the, sout}least <br />corner of Broadway and Polk). Motion was made and seconded unanimously ~pproving <br />the recommendation of the F'inance Cormnittee. <br /> <br />8V <br /> <br />, <br />The Finance COlmnittee reCOTIilllended a counter offer of $800.00, $50.00 refund <br />if construction starts within 90 days on the offer of L. Virgil Fish, $750.00 cash, <br />for Lots 2 and 7., Block 1, IvIark Fleming Addition (100 feet south of the southwest <br />corner of 11th Avenue and Taylor St:teet). Intends to build a home on each lot. <br />Motion was made and seconded unanimously approving the recommendation of the <br />Committee. <br /> <br />9./ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Upon the recorrnnendation of the Finance Corrnnittee, motion was made and <br />Beconded to accept the offer of H. E. Cully for client, Clyde McDougall, $950.00, <br />$100.00 down and the balance on or before September 1st, 1940 for Lot 6, Block ~O, <br />James Huadleston's hnended Addition (northeast corner of Broadway and Jackson)., <br />10v intends to build two houses on this lot. <br /> <br />The Finance Conmlittee recorrnnended a counter offer of $500.00 on the' offer <br />of W. W. King, $400.00 cash, for Lot 3, Blo_ck 3, Hollenbeck Addition (52 feet south <br />of the southwest corner of 14th and WaShington). 'Motion was made and seconded <br />lY unanimously approving the recorrnnendation. <br /> <br />The Finance Corr.rnlittee reconwlended the acceptance of the offer of James <br />L. Hastings, $375.00 cash, for part of Lot 1, Block 9, Hendrick's Amended Addition <br />(southeast" corner ,of 14th and Lincoln Streets). Motion was made and seconded <br />12.1 unanimously approving the reconmlendation of the comrni ttee. <br /> <br />The Finance CamIlli ttee reconmlended a counter offer of ~~500 .00 on the offer of <br />T. F. and Marie F. Pendergast, ~~400. 00, $100.00 down and 18 months to pay the balanc <br />for'Lot 3, Block 3, Hollenbeck Addition (52 feet south of the southwest corner of <br />14th and Washington).
