<br /> ",..- 3 5 8 <br /> ~ <br /> NOTICE OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br /> ~ . 0:.- I <br /> .C;;: <br /> ;t, <br /> ;.Cl To the Members of the Common Council of the City of Eugene: <br /> 'C~ <br /> NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That on this 28th day of August, 1940, the Mayor of the <br /> City of Eugene hereby calls a meeting to be held at 7:30 o'clock p.m. in the Council <br /> Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Eugene for the consideration of the <br /> following matter: <br /> To consider granting a franchise to the Pl~ood Company to lay a pipe line I <br /> to the Willamette River to pump water for their mill pond. <br /> Eugene, Oregon August 28, 1940. <br /> /s/ Elisha Large <br /> * * * * * * * * * * <br /> Council Chambers Eugene, Oregon <br /> August 28, 1940 <br /> The council met in special meeting pursuant to the call of Mayor Large. <br /> 1/ Councilmen present were A. A. Reid, Sam C. Bond, Fred C. Carlson, A. C. Farringtdn, <br /> P. J. Hanns, Louis Koppe and E. A. Barette; absent: I. O. Stewart. <br /> Mayor Large announced that the purpose of the meeting was to consider grant <br /> img to the Plywood 'Company a franchise to lay a pipeline to the Willamette River <br /> to pump water for their mill pond. The City Recorder read the contract between the <br /> the City of Eugene and the Plywood Company. A resolution was presented authorizing <br /> the Mayor and Recorder to execute the contract, and upon motion made and seconded I <br /> 2v1 it was unanimously adopted. <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, That the <br /> Mayor and Recorder be and they are hereby directed and authorized to <br /> sign on behalf of the City of Eugene there hereto annexed easement <br /> and contract with respect to the extension of a water line on Polk Street <br /> extended and the installation of a pump to serve the same. <br /> Resolution was presented from the State Highway Commission resolving to <br /> change the route and location of the Pacific Highway entering Eugene from the <br /> 3-- westerly direction. A short discussion followed with no, action being taken. <br /> The councilmen then discussed the condemnation value of the building at <br /> 11th and Willamette Streets commonly known as the Powers Building, in the event of <br /> future set-back. It was learned that the owner plans to make improvements <br /> amounting to $20,000. The city is standing on the proposition that, since the <br /> adoption of the set back rules, the only returnable value to the owner of the <br /> 4./ building in widening the street is on the value of the present building. <br /> The meeting was herewith adjourned. <br /> C.
