(Following is a copy of the letter received from the Oregon Motor Stages
September: 9, 1940 . I
Honorable Mayor ,and City Council .
Eugene, Oregon
Gentlemen:
With our letter of May 22nd, 1940 we asked authority to
make certain revisions in service on the Fairmount Loop line and
to extend service into the district north of the S. P: Co. tracks,
all of which was to be in the nature- of an experiment. to determine
if there was justification for such revisions as demanded by the
public.
We have given it a fair trial on the Fairmount Loop sincex
June 16th and now find that the revision was a mistake. While the
change of route did offer a convenience to some few people it was a
decided inconvenience to a far greater number of regular riders
residing in fraternity and sorority house in the vicinity. They
availed themselves of this service because of the frequency due to the fact
that they could use the University Loop bus going to town and the Fair-
mount loop bus returning from town. We therefore wish to restore the
service as it was and require the following authority:
Discontinue operation: I
On Alder between 19th and 22nd
On 22nd between Alder and University
Establish service:
On University between 19th and 22nd
As for the extension north of the S. P. Co.. tracks, we wish to make
further revision and extension and require authority as follo~m:
Discontinue operation: I
On Madison between 1st and 2nd
On 2nd between Madison and Monroe
On Monroe between 1st and 2nd
Establish service:
On 1st between Monroe and Van Buren
On Van Buren between 1st and 2nd
On 2nd between Van Buren and Garfield
On Garfield between 2nd and Roosevelt Blvd I
On Roosevelt Blvd between Garfield and
4 corners and.Westlane. ,.'
Yours very truly,
~ Oregon Motor Stages, ,Py R.
