Findtner for a permit to construct <br /> a service station on the northeast corner of 13th and Willamette, the City Recorder <br /> resented a cooonunication from Councilman Carlson, Chairman of the Street Committee, <br /> the committee to which the matter had been referred. Councilman Carlson stated in <br /> Ihis communication that an ordinance is in effect prohibiting additional service stati ns <br /> Ion Willamette Street between the Southern Pacific right-of-way and 19th Street and it <br /> rould seem that the council would have to pepeal this ordinance first and then it <br /> vould be up to the council. As chairman he would make no recommendation and felt <br /> .. ~he Planning Commission might have somethin[jto say about this too. The Recorder <br /> ~ hen presented a petition signed by residents in the neighborhood enterinG their <br /> ~rotest against the erection of a service station on this corner. Councilman Bond <br /> ~aid he could see no objections to the installation of a service station at this <br /> ocation and the ordinance in question was passed to prohibit the installation of <br /> I service station at 8th and Vhllamette Streets. Councilman Reid maJ e Q motion, <br /> econded by Councilman Barette, to deny the request. Mr. Findter being present <br /> ddressed the council making a plea for a permit. The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> The Fire and Water COIT~ittee represented by Councilman Koppe in the <br /> I bsence of Councilman Stewart requested additional tliue for consideration regarding <br /> 18,,- he installation of a street light in the alley adjacent to the Del Ray Cafe. <br /> Councilman Brownson, Chairman of the Health Committee, reported that <br /> is comnlittee had contacted the management of the Midgley Planing Mill concerning the I' <br /> 'moke nuisance and the mill officials were willing to cooperate in every way possible <br /> tor the removal of the nuisance providing it was within reason to do so and it didn't <br /> 19 'Jhecessitate too many changes. <br /> Councilman Barette reported that Vf.
