All <br />Councilmen present' voting AYE the ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8907. <br />Allen absent. ---- <br /> <br />c': <br /> <br />oc <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 101 -- He: Licensing Drive-Yourself Cars (Application, <br />etc.), read the first time May 15th was given second reading. <br /> <br />Upon motion the amendment recommended by the Police Committee on car safety in- <br />spection, was adopted. <br /> <br />It was moved by Koppe, seconded by Hawn that the rul.es be sus,pended by unanimous <br />consent and the ordinance as amended given third reading and placed on final <br />passage. All Councilmen present voting AYE the ordinance was declared passed and <br />numbered 8908. Allen absent. <br /> <br />Council Bill No. 106 -- Re: Increase of bus fares within the City of <br />Eugene was submitted. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the Council inform the local Office <br />of Price Administration of the Council's approval of an 8i bus fare for Eugene as <br />requested by the Oregon Motor Stages and that the present City franchise and fran- <br />chise ordinance governing bus operations'be referred to a special committee of <br />the Council to be appointed by the Mayor for further consideration and amendment. <br /> <br />A report of the City Manager was submitted and read as follows: <br /> <br />"The City had on hand in various Sinking Funds the sum of $248,000.00 <br />Series "Eft 1946 U.S. Gov'ernment 7/8% War Bonds, due June 1, 1946. In order to <br />take advantage of a special offer by the Government whereby they would pay part <br />cash and part in 1947 Series "En 7/8% War Bonds, it was necessary to deliver the <br />bonds owned by the City to the First National Bank in. Eugene early this forenoon. <br />The~City will not need all this money in cash and the 7/8% War Bonds not being <br />i available on June 1st, the City. Treasurer acting on the advice of two members of <br />the Finance Committee delivered the $248,000.00 in bond,s to the First National <br />Bank early this forenoon. In 'the circular issued by the Government it was not <br />stated how much will be refunded in Bonds and how much cash will be paid. We are <br />! asking that the Council confirm the action taken. in regard to these bonds." <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Koppe that the report be filed and confirmation <br />given to the transaction as outlined. Motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />An appliea tion for transfer of Cla'ss "B" Retail Beer License, was <br />submitted, by Angelo H. Hensley, having been approved by the Chief of Police. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Koppe, that the application for transfer be <br />endorsed. <br /> <br />A request for waiver of set-back at 44 East 11th Avenue to allow <br />building to the property line, such waiver to be subje~t to the signing of the <br />usual waiver contract for removal, was submitted. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hurley that the request be granted.
