It has been tentatively agreed, <br /> subject to. ap.p.roval of the Common Council, that the City's cost in excess of <br /> $500,000.00, which addit.ional cost shall, not exceed $50,000.00, would be advanced <br /> by the, Stat.e.Highway Commission. ,from ,the,. highway revenues accruing to the City <br /> of Eug.ene. Such re~payments can,extend,up to a period of eight. years; with no <br /> interest charge,s to be paid on such advance funds. The State to agree to make provision for the maintenance of the Mill <br /> [Race by providing an underground conduit beneath that portion of the highway right- <br /> : of-way from Blwadway North. <br /> Mayor, McNut.t, and my.self ha;ve been> advised. by the. Highway Department that <br /> upon the completion of. a tri-party agreement as outlined. above, that it will include <br /> provisions for the construc,t,ion. of the highway portion of the project in its bid <br /> call in January or February for the completion. of U.S. Highway 99 section from I <br /> Walnut Street to High Street. The Co~~issioners of Lane County have tentatively <br /> agreed to sign such agreement provided that the Common Council for Eugene authorizes <br /> the city's participation. <br /> A recap of the costs to the State Highway Department for the construction <br /> of U.S. Highway 99 within the City of Eugene from Judkins Point to the proposed new <br /> vonnection with 6th and 7th Avenues East, shows a total State participation of the <br /> over-all project of $1,545,000.00. Should the Council wish to participate in this <br /> agreement, a resolution directing the Mayor and City Manager to execute the agree- <br /> ment on behalf of the City should ,be adopted at the earliest possible time to <br /> assure the completion of the State's portion of the projec~ in' 1947 and provide the <br /> means for the completion of the entire Mill Race Junction Project within a period <br /> ~ of five years." <br /> ~ <br />
