The meeting was called to order by his Honor, Mayor Earl McNutt. <br />Councilmen present at rollcall were - Hawn, Davis, Crumbaker, Bailey, Johnson, <br />Allen and Wells. Pennington came in late. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />;i "'._" <br /> <br />~, <br />w <br />~ <br /> <br />Upon motion the minutes of the last regular meeting held February 10, <br />194?, were considered read and approved. <br /> <br />This being the date set by the Common Council for the consideration of <br />bids on various improvement projects, the City Manager reported the receipt of <br />bids as follows, all of which had been previously publicly opened and scheduled <br />as per the official published bid calls: <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />1. The construction of a sanitary sewer on Elk Avenue from Fairmount <br />to Hendricks Park - the following bids were presented: <br /> <br />R.E.M. <br />Werner & Jeske <br /> <br />$2,990.00 <br />1,625.00 <br /> <br />Bids were in proper order and accompanied by certified checks or bid <br />bonds in the specified amounts. <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Davis, that the bid of Werner & Jeske in the <br />sum of $1,625.00 be accepted and the City Manager authorized to make award. <br />Rollcall - All Councilmen present voting AYE. Pennington absent. <br /> <br />2. On the proposed improvement of the alley between High and the <br />Millrace from Broadway to Tenth, the following bids were presented: <br /> <br />R.E.M. <br />Werner & Jeske <br /> <br />$2,432.10 <br />2,2?4.90 < <br /> <br />Bids were in pr,oper order and accompanied by certified checks or bid <br />bonds in the specified amounts. <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Davis that the bids as submitted be held <br />in abeyance for further study and referred to the City Manager. <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3. On the proposed improvement, of the alleys between 10th and 11th and <br />Olive and Charnelton, ~he following bids were presented: <br /> <br />R.E.M. <br />Werner & Jeske <br /> <br />:,: <br /> <br />$4,5?3.80 <br />4,022.00 <br /> <br />. Bids were in proper order and accompanied by certified checks or bid <br />bonds in the specified amounts. <br /> <br />i It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hawn that the bid of Werner & Jeske in the <br />. sum of $4,022.00 be accepted and the City Manager authorized to make award. <br /> <br />4. On the proposed construction of a concrete sidewalk on Thirteenth <br />! from Monroe to Almaden, the following - bids were presented: <br /> <br />R. E. M. <br />Peter A. Nelson & Son <br /> <br />$4,515.00 <br />4,414.95 <br /> <br />Bids were in proper order and accompanied by.certified check or bid <br />bond in the specified amounts. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hawn that all bids be rejected and the City <br />Manager authorized to make a new bid call. <br /> <br />5. On the proposed construction of a concrete sidewalk on Kincaid <br />Street from 25th to 26th Avenues, the following bids were presented: <br /> <br />R. E. M. <br />Peter A. Nelson & Son <br /> <br />$1,419.80 <br />1,142.45 . <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Bids were in proper order and accompanied by certified check or bid bond <br />in the specified amounts. <br /> <br />It was moved by Davis, seconded by Hawn that all bids be rejected and the City <br />Manager authorized to make a new bid call. <br /> <br />l <br />
