<br />Amazon Project, was submitted and

<br />"I wish,.to report that in accordance with your action" of May 12th,
<br />the undersigneq appeared before the House Sub-committee on War Department Appro-
<br />priations on behalf of the City, School District and Chamber of Commerce with
<br />reference to the Ama.zon. Flood Control, Pro.j ect.

<br />As had been previously pointed, out, the Amaz,on project had been given
<br />approval by the U. S. Army Engineers hut had previously received no appropriation
<br />nor had any work been done on, the project or money expended by the F,ederal Govern-
<br />ment. At the present time, an agreement reac,hedu by the House, Director of the
<br />BUdget and the President's Office would bar any project in this category from
<br />considera.tion. for an appropriation during, the, coming fiscal year.

<br />At the last regular meeting of. the Council this office was authorized .to
<br />: call for. bids on surplus items of foundry equipmen.t. at the N. Y .A. Foundry Buildihg.
<br />:' After publishing a call for bids we- had. an, appraisal made of the equipment in
<br />:, question and fixed a minimum, value of $200.00 on this, equipment. Ther.e was one
<br />i' bidder who submitted an offer of $125.00. It is my recommendation that the Council
<br />:'autho~ize the sale, of this equipment for $200.00 to the present bidder or as an
<br />:: alterna ti ve to call for new bids.

<br />j, In con.junctlon with the. installation of a new police radio as authorized
<br />in the 1947-1948 budget, we will be required to erect a small building on the Butte
<br />to house the transmitting equipment. We have received bids on this construction

<br />iAmerican LaFrance Pumper. At the time the contract was awarded to the company it
<br />Iwas understood that the specifications included an ecnlosed cab for this equipment.
<br />I However, the pumper that has been delivered to us has an open 5~man cab. ' Under
<br />:,norm.al condi tions of delivery on such type of equipm.ent, it wouId be my recommen-
