Januar.y 26, 1948 <br />at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order b~.his Honor, Mayor Earl MQNutt. <br />Councilmen present at rollcall were: Hawn, Davis, Crumbaker, Bailey, Johnson <br />and Wells. A $120,000, 20-year" serial ,bond iss,Ue,.(,callable. after thre.e years) for <br />the. construc.tionof two fire sue~sta-tions, the installation, of a fire alarm <br />system. and. the purchase of a 10Q...foot aer.ial. hydr.aulic ladder truck for the <br />Eugene Fire Department, together with a proposal for a 2-mill continuing levy <br />outside of the 6% limitation for the employment of additional personnel for the <br />~ugen.e.. F.ire Dept.. <br /> <br />3. We further recommend.t.hat the. CounciL initia;te a.l-mill s.pecial levy for ,i <br />one year, outside of the 6%. limitation, for the. repair and/or reconstruction of ': <br />the Mill Race, conditioned upon the furnishing of matching funds in a like amount,: <br />no proceeds to be used for right-of.tway. or easement costs. ' <br /> <br />4. We further recommend that the City Council proceed to enact a City <br />admission tax ordinance for the purpose of raising funds to be used fqr park and <br />recreational purposes in the City of Eugene, the proceeds of such tax to be <br />utilized in lieu of proposed special millage and/or bond issue for park and <br />recreational purposes.. Moti.oncarried. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the balance of the report be re- <br />ceived and placed. on.. f.il.e.. Motion..carr.ied. <br /> <br />It was further moved and seconded that the segregated portion of the report be <br />received and placed on file. Motion..carr.ied. <br /> <br />A letter of resignation by Mr. Stanley Darling was submitted by Mayor <br />Earl.McNutt as.follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"Please accept my resignation as, Municipal Judge. of the City of Eugene to <br />take effect on January 31, 1948, or at such earlier time as a successor is <br />appointed. It is my desire to. devote, more of. my time. to my per.sonaL.la~ practice~, <br /> <br />I.have enjoyed performing my duti.es in .theMunicipal Court during the past <br />three years, and I wish to express my appreciation for the opportunity which <br />you have, given me to serve the community." , (Signed - Stanley R. Darling.) <br /> <br />It was moved by Bailey, 'seconded, by Wells that the letter of resignation as .sub- <br />mitted by the Mayor be accepted and the recorder instructed to write a letter to <br />Mr. Darling thanking him for his splendid services rendered the City as Municipal <br />Judge.
