In the matter of requested street vacations for a portion of Pine ?tr~et <br />(~ixteenth Avenue E~st) and a portion of: 28th Avenue East, your committee r~com- <br />mends that the requ~st be not favorably acted upon by the Common Council. It is <br />the opinion of the Committee that neither vacation would ?erve the pUblic interest:, <br />and that no action should be taken in view of future stree't and/or sewer improve- : <br />ments for the areas in question. . . <br />. . <br /> <br />2. Your committee recommends that the sum of $32.15 representing 50% of the <br />assessment against Raymond E. and Leta M: Huffman for sidewalk improvements on <br />the East side of Filmore Street between West Broadway and 11th Avenue be refunded <br />to the proper'ti owner, such refund to be" made from contingency funds. Your committee further recommends that designated lo~ding zones in the <br />business districts be metered,- such zones to be limited to cOIDlllercial vehicle <br />loading and unloading until 12 noon on w~ek days, and to be 9pen'for general <br />public use as a metered parking space after 12 noon. Your committee has been advised' that private firms are now offering <br />armored car and motorcycle escort service in the City of Eugene, and we therefore <br />recommend that such services, except in cases of emergency, be no longer furnished: <br />bt the Eugen~ Police Departm~nt.' . ~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5. It is recommended by your Commi~tee that prohibition of right hand turns <br />fC)r vehicular traffic during. peak traffi9 hours be fhstituted at downtown street <br />intersections where deemed necessary to ~xpedite the movement of traffic in the <br />business area." <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by CrLUnbaker that the report of' the committee be <br />received and placed on file and that the recommendations as contained therein be <br />approved.
