The meeting was called to order by his Honor, Mayor Earl McNutt. <br />Councilmen present at rollcall were: Hawn, Davis, Crumbaker, Bailey, Johnson, <br />Allen" Hannsand, Wells..... <br /> <br />Upon motion the minutes of the last regular meeting held March 8, 1948 <br />were considered read and approved~ <br /> <br />PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />A petition signed by Stenwick & Kok and E. H. Lorence for the improvement of <br />Almaden Street from 7th to 8th Avenues West, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the petition be received and placed <br />on file and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary im- <br />provement ordinanoes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition signed by Mrs. Fred Schmidt, 1387 Arthur Street and 9 others <br />2 for improvement of Arthur Street oetween 11th and 14th Avenues West by paving, <br />was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hanns that the petition, lacking 50% of <br />the abutting property, be ordered referred back to the City Manager for further <br />investigation and report. Motion carried. - <br /> <br />A petition signed by R. W. McGinnis and 5 others for the improvement of <br />3 18th Avenue East between Ferry & Patterson Street by paving, was submitted and <br />read. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Davis that the petition be received and <br />placed on file and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary <br />. improvement ordinances. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition signed by Robert Holland, 2690 Onyx Street and 7 others for <br />4 installation of a sanitary sewer on Onyx Street between 26th and 28th Avenues <br />East, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Hawn that the petition, lacking 50% of <br />the abutting property, be ordered referred back to the City Manager for further <br />investigation and report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A communication from the Westmoreland Improvement Association requesting <br />5 that any further improvement at the Eugene Air Park be suspended, was submitted <br />and read as follows: <br /> <br />"At the Executive Board meeting of the Westmoreland Improvement Association <br />on March 8 a motion was made, seconded and carried that the Association write <br />the City Council and City Manager of Eugene requesting that any further improve- <br />ment at the Eugene Air Park be suspended. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />Thanking you for your most kind cooperation, I am" <br /> <br />It was moved by Bailey, seconded by Crumbaker that the communication be received <br />and placed on file. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A communication from Donald Husband and Quit Claim Deed re: property on <br />east side of Pearl just south of the alley running East and West through the <br />Block between Broadway and Tenth Avenue East, was submitted and read. <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Crumbaker that the proper city officers be <br />instructed to execute the deed as submitted. Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />The following applications for Package Store Class "A" "and "B" licenses <br />were submitted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Ralph's Grocery, 603 West 19th - Package Store Class "Btt <br />Christian's Market, 1711 West 11th - PaCkage Store Class "A" <br />L & L Grocery, 1591 Willamette - Package Storee Class "A" <br /> <br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the applications as approved by <br />the Chief of Police be endorsed.
