<br />Council Bill No. 294 - Re: Regulating Sewer construction, repair or re-

<br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the Bill be read the second time
<br />as amended by the Public Works Committee of the Council. Motion carried

<br />Council Bill No. 316 - Re: Reclassification of property located at 2263i
<br />East 15th from R-l to B-1, read the first time February 24, 1948 and read the
<br />second time March 8, 1948, was brought on for third reading.
<br />
<br />This being the date set for a hearing on the rezoning proposal, the Mayor called
<br />on anyone present to be heard for or against the matter.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Hawn,. seconded by Davis that the Bill be read the third time by
<br />Title with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously.

<br />It was moved by Crumbaker, seconded by Johnson that Council Bill 316 be amended
<br />so as to change the South boundary of the area to be reclassified to a line
<br />extending from the North boundary of Lot 16 easterly to an intersection with the
<br />easterly line of the Painter property. Motion lost by the following vote:
<br />Crumbaker, Johnson and Hanns voting AYE; Hawn, Davis, Bailey, Allen and Wells
<br />voting NO.

<br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the Bill be approved. Motion
<br />carried by the following vote: Hawn, Davis, Bailey, Allen and Wells voting

<br />Council Bill No. 335 - Re: Election for or against Annexation of certain
<br />properties located between 24th and 26th and Charnelton and Hilyard, was read
<br />the first time in full.

<br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the Bill be read the second time
<br />by Title with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously.

<br />by Title with unanimous consent of the Council. Motion carried unanimously.

<br />RESOLUTIONS
<br />
<br />A Resolution - Re: Authorizing the City Recorder to open ballot boxes used
<br />in last election and to destroy the ballots therein contained, was submitted
<br />and read.
<br />
<br />"WHEREAS a special election was held within the City of Eugene, Lane County,
<br />Oregon, on October 7, 1947, and the ballot boxes used in the course of said
<br />election have been continuously since and are now in the possession of the City
<br />Recorder of said City, locked and unopened; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS said City has directed the holding of a special election con-
<br />currently with the State Primary Nominating Election to be held throughout the
<br />State of Oregon on May 21, 1948, and it is necessary to make use of said City
<br />ballot boxes in the forthcoming special election,
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, by reason of the premises and the laws and statutes of the
<br />State of Oregon, it is hereby resolved, that the City Recorder be, and he is
<br />hereby directed to open said ballot boxes used in the last election aforesaid,
<br />and being retained in his possession, unopened, and to destroy the ballots
<br />therein contained in the manner prescribed by law."
<br />
<br />It was moved by Hawn, seconded by Davis that the resolution be adopted. Motion
<br />carried.
