FRANK HITCHCOCK, 985 W. 19TH AVENUE SPOKE IN BEHALF OF HOLDING AN ELECTION WITHIN <br />THE CITY, STATING THAT THE STANDARDS OF SEWERS, FIRE AND POLICE PROTECTION, AND ALL CI TY <br />SERVICES SHOULD BE BROUGHT UP TO DESIR8D STANDARDS BEFORE ANNEXING THE RIVERVIEW AREA. MR. VICTOR P. MORGAN, COUNTY SANITARIAN WAS CALLED UPON TO OUTLINE <br />THE SURVEY WHICH WAS MADE IN 1949 RELATIVE TO THE SANITARY CONDITIONS IN THIS AREA. MR. <br />MORGAN STATED THAT THESE CONDI TIONS, AS FAR AS HE KNEW, HAD NOT BEEN CORRECTED, AND MORE <br />PEOPLE HAD MOVED INTO THE AREA SINCE THAT SURVEY WAS MADE AND THAT IN A FEW CASES, PEOPLE <br />HAD BEEN ABLE TO SLIGHTLY IMPROVE THEIR SEWAGE DISPOSAL, BUT NO IMPROVEMENT A[ ALL HAD BEEN <br />MADE IN THE WATER SUPPLY. HE AGAIN STATED THAT QUITE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WERE BOILING THEIR <br />\.J ATE R I NTH A TAR EA. I NOR D E R TO 'B E SUR E 0 F S A FEW ATE R, AND T HAT I T WAS A.' V E R Y INS A NIT A R Y <br />CONDI TION. HE STATED THAT THEY MUST BE CORRECTuD BEFORE DRASTIC ACTION IS TAKEN IN <br />CONNECTION WITH THE PUBLIC HE~LTH OF THE AREA. <br /> <br />MR. WA~LACE GREIG STATED THAT ,IF THE COUNCIL WOULD POSTPONE THE ELECTION A YEAR FROM <br />THIS TIME, OR THAT AS SOON AS THE CITY CAN GO AHEAD AND FURNISH ~ACILITIES, HE WOULD NOT <br />OBJ ECT TO THE ANNEXATION, BUT SUPPORT IT. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />~~ <br />
