OPEN AIR ART SHOW ON JULY 24, 1954. I HAVE <br />INVESTIGATED THIS MATTER AND FOUND THAT THE BLOCK IS CONSIDERED TO BE UNDER THE <br />JURISDICTION OF THE COUNTY COMMISSION AND THEY HAVE GRANTED THE REQUEST OF THE <br />EUGENE ART CENTER CONCERNING THIS OPEN AIR SHOW. <br /> <br />ON MARCH 14, 1954, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S PISTOL TEAM WON THE STATE TROPHY <br />FOR THE fiFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR, AND IT WAS THE INTENTIDN. JOHNSON; COUNCILMEN CRUMBAKER, BOOTH, KOPPE, SIEGENTHALER, <br />WATSON, CONE AND OWEN. <br /> <br />THE COMMITTEE MET ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 1954 TO .INSPECT THE CONDITION OF SEVERAL <br />PRIVATE PROPERTIES ON THE AMAZON AT OLIVE, CHARNEL TON AND LINCOLN STREETS AND TO GIVE <br />CONSIDERATION TO EMERGENCY CONSTRUCTION WORK TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THESE PROPERTIES. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />IT IS THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE COMMITTEE THAT THE MATTER OF THE CITY'S RESPON- <br />SIBILITY IN THE CASE BE REFERRED TO THE CITY ATTORNEY FOR AN OPINION AND FURTHER THAT <br />THE COUNCIL GO ON RECORD AS FAVORING GWANTING WHATEVER EMERGENCY RELIEF CAN BE GIVEN <br />IN THE SITUATION." <br /> <br />IT WAS MOVED BY CRUMBAKER, SE~ONDED BY BOOTH THAT THE REPORT OF THE PUBLIC WORKS <br />COMMITTEE BE ADOPTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />A REPORT OF THE AIRPORT COMMITTEE - RE: STUDY OF CITY'S AI~PORT PROGRAM; REQUEST FOR <br />RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR BOND ROAD WAS SUBMITTED AND READ AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />"PRESENT: COUNCI LMEN CRUMBAKER, KOPPE, 51 EGENTHALER, .WATSON AND OWEN. CI TY <br />MANAGER; ACTING AIRPORT MANAGER AND CITY RECORDER. <br /> <br />THE COMMITTEE MET AT .NOON ON THURSDAY, MARCH I I, 1954 TO CONSIDER TWO MATTERS <br />RELATIVE TO AIRPORT ACTIVITIES. THE ACTION OF THE COMMITTEE IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />I. STUDY OF CI TY'S AI RPORT PROGRAM - I T WAS REPORTED BY THE CI TY MANAGER THAT THE <br />C.A.A. OFFICE HAD BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THE MAKING OF A STUDY OF EUGENE'S AIRPORT <br />NEEDS. THE REPLY WAS THAT C.A.A. COULD NOT UNDERTAKE THE STUDY UNDER THEIR PRESENT <br />RESTRICTED PROGRAM, AND IT WAS THEIR SUGGESTION THAT IF THE STUDY AND RESULTS WERE <br />NEEDED WITHIN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS THAT IT BE UNDERTAKEN BY SOME OTHER AGENCY. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />THE CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT HE HAD NEXT CONSULTED WITH MR. JOHN J. WINN, JR., <br />GENERAL MANAGER FOR THE PORT OF PORTLAND FOR ADVICE ON THE SECURING OF A COMPETENT <br />AIRPORT CONSULTANT. HE INDICATED THAT HE WAS ADVISED THAT MR. LEIGH FISHER OF LEIGH <br />FISHER & ASSOCIATES, P.O. Box 1168, SOUTH BEND 24, INDIANA WAS THE CONSULTANT FOR THE <br />PORT or PORTLAND AND THAT MR. FISHER WOULD BE IN THE PORTLAND AREA ON WORK FOR THEM <br />IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND MIGHT POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO ASSIST THE CITY OF EUGENE WHILE IN <br />THE VICINITY. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />~ <br />
