OWEN, SECONDED BY MR. SHEARER THAT THE RESOLUTION I <br />BE ADOPTED. ON A ROLLCALL VOTE, THE MOTION CARRIED WITH FOUR COUNCILMEN rAVORING ADOPTION AND I <br />TWO VOTING AGAINST. THE MONEY REALIZED BY THE LEVY HEREIN PROVIDED FOR SHALL BE DEPOSITED <br />IN, KEPT AND DISBURSED rROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE FUND. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. THAT SAID MONEY SHALL BE DISBURSED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL- BY WARRANTS <br />DRAWN BY THE COUNCIL UPON SAID fiRE DEPARTMENT OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE fUND, SAID <br />WARRANTS TO BE SIGNED BY'THE MAYOR AND CITY RECORDER. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. THIS LEVY WILL BE IN ADDITION TO AND IN EXCESS OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL SIX <br />PER CENT LIMITATION UPON THE CITY'S TAX LEVY. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTED THIS 29TH DAY or APRIL, 1955." <br /> <br />COMMUNICATION <br /> <br />COMMUNICATION rROM LANE COUNTY CHAPTER or THE AMERICAN RED CROSS - RE: PERMIT FOR A,RAMP <br />OVER AN ALLEY TO CONNECT TWO BUILDINGS WAS SUBMITTED AND READ AS rOLLOWS: <br /> <br />"THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF THE LANE COUNTY CHAPTER or THE AMERICAN RED CROSS HAS <br />NEGOTIATED AN AGREEMENT TO SELL THE PRESENT BUILDING LOCATED AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF <br />THE ALLEY AND 47 WEST 8TH STREET CONTINGENT UPON THE PERMISSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO <br />ALLOW THE PURCHASER, MR. MAURICE JACOBS, TO CONSTRUCT A RAMP FROM HIS BUILDING OCCUPIED <br />BY THE STERLINE fURNITURE COMPANY ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER or THIS SAME ALLEY, IN OTHER <br />WORDS ACROSS THE ALLEY TO OUR BUILDING.
