THE GRADING ~OB IN <br />I AMAZON PARK HAS BEEN REPORTED APPROXIMATELY 80 PER CENT COMPLETE. <br /> <br />I ALTHOUG~THERE'WAS A SLIGHT INCREASE IN T~E SUMMER PARK ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR, COLD <br />AND RAINY WEATHER AGAIN HELD PARK ATTENDANCE 'DOWN ~ROM THE PEAK REACHED IN 1953. THIS <br />SUMMER APPROXIMATELY 158.180 PERSONS PARTICIPATED IN PARK PROGRAMS OR USED PARK F'ACILITIES. <br />I IN 1954 THIS F'IGURE WAS 154,897 AND' IN 1953, IT WAS 173.873.' <br /> <br />S~IMMING AGAIN WAS THE MOST POPULAR PASTIME WITH 35,783 RECREATIONAL SWIMMERS,!AND <br />15,455 PERSONS ATTENDING SWIMMING CLASSES. THE RECREATIONAL SWIMMING ATTENDANCE WAS <br />DOWN I,528~F'ROM LAST YEAR, BUT THE "LEARN-TO-SWIM" PROGRAM WAS UP 6,896. THe REASONS <br />FOR'THE GREAT INCREASE IN THE "LEARN-TO-SWIM" PROGRAM ARE EARLIER NOTlF'ICA'TlON OF;'CLASS <br />PERIODS, WARMER WATER, AND ADDITIONAL SWIMMING COURSES.
