IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER BY <br /> HI S HON<R MAYOR EDWIN E. CONE WITH THE FOLLOWING COUNCILMEN PRESENT: MRS. LAURIS, MESSRS. MOLHOLM, <br /> 00 CHATT, MOYER, SWANSON, CHRISTENSEN AND DEVERELL. COUNCILMAN WILSON WAS ABSENT. <br /> ~ <br /> ~ I MAYOR CONE EXPLAINED THE PURPOSE OF THE MEETING STATING THE TIME WOULD BE GIVEN OVER TO MATTERS <br /> ~ CONCERNING THE EAST CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, THAT A PUBLIC HEARING HAD BEEN CALLED ON THE APPLICA- <br /> C;Q TION OF THE URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, AND THAT THE BUSINESS WOULD BE CONFINED <br /> CO <br /> TO THIS SUBJECT. HE STATED THAT THE PROPONENTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM WOULD BE GIVEN AN OPPOR- <br /> TUNITY TO SPEAK FIRST ON THE PROPOSAL, AND THEN THE OPPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM WOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE <br /> FOR DISCUSSION. <br /> e MAYOR CONE THEN INTRODUCED MR. DICK SODERBERG WHO GAVE AN OUTLINE OF THE PROPOSED AREA INVOLVED <br /> WITH DIAGRAMS SHOWING THE LOCATION OF THE AREA. MR. SODERBERG ALSO EXPLAINED THE PROBLEMS,lNVOLVED <br /> WITH THE RELOCATION OF THE PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE REQUIRED TO MOVE FROM THE DEVELOPMENT AREA. MR. ORVILLE <br /> LINDSTROM WAS THEN RECOGNIZED AND PROCEEDED TO EXPLAIN THE USE or THE MONEY WHICH WOULD BE RECEIVED <br /> FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND IN WHAT PROPORTION THE MONEY WOULD BE USED FOR HOUSING AND EDUCATIONAL <br /> BUILDINGS. MR. LINDSTROM ALSO EXPLAINED THE PROCEDURE IN ARRIVING AT VALUES FOR PAYMENTS TO INDIVIDUAL <br /> PROPERTY OWNERS, STATING THAT PROFESSIONAL APPRAISERS HAD BEEN HIRED TO DO THE SURVEY WORK. MA YOR CONE <br /> I THEN ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCi AT WHICH TIME THE FoLLOWING PEOPLE EXPRESSED <br /> THEIR OPINIONS ON THE PROPOSAL: MR. OSBURN, MRS. ALBERTA HEFFRON, MESSRS. HALL, McKEON, GEORGE CREGER, <br /> COLOMBO, DENNISON, MILES KONTICH, AND CHUCK THOMPSON. <br /> SEVERAL PEOPLE ASKED QUESTIONS OF MR. LINDSTROM CONCERNING THE ACTUAL APPRAISAL OF PRORRTY AND <br /> THE VALUATION GIVEN TO CERTAIN PIECES OF PROPERTY AND WHAT ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE FOR RELOCATION. <br /> THESE QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED BY MR. LINDSTROM. MRS. ALBERTA HEFFRON STATED SHE WISHED TO SPEAK ON <br /> BEHALF OF A CLIENT, MR. AND MRS. RUDY J. NESS. SHE STATED THAT HER CLIENT HAD ASKED HER TO CONVEY <br /> THE INFORMATION TO THE HEAR'ING THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON HAD BEEN SOMEWHAT INCONSIDERATE IN SOME <br /> OF THEIR TRANSACTtONS WITH SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN THE AREA, AND THAT THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OF THE <br /> UNIVERSITY HAD SUFFERED SOMEWHAT. MRS. LYDA GARRETT ALSO SPOKE IN THIS SAME VEIN, STAT! NG THAT SHE <br /> HAD NOT RECEIVED THE ATTENTION TO CERTAIN CORRESPONDENCE WHICH SHE HAD SENT TO THE OFFICE, THAT SHE <br /> DOUBTED WHETHER A SUGGESTION SUBMITTED BY HER HAD EVEN BEEN CONSIDERED. MR. COLOMBO OF 1542 VILLARD <br /> STREET ALSO VOICED AN OBJECTION TO THE PROGRAM. <br /> MAYOR CONE THEN CALLED THE MEETING TO A CLOSE, STATING THAT NO ACTION BY THE COUNCrL WOULD BE <br /> NECESSARY AT THIS TIME AND THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE MEETING HAD BEEN FULFILLED AND THE HEARING WAS <br /> ADJOURNED. <br /> MR.
