<br />The regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was
<br />called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber :on January 11, 1965 'by His Honor
<br />Mayor Edwin E. Cone with the following ,councilmen present :: Mrs. Laur~s, Messrs. Chatt,:
<br />Crakes, Ha~k, Purdy, McNutt, Anderson, and Lassen. '

<br />The minutes o.f the regular meeting held, December 14, :1964 and of the special :meeting
<br />held January 6, 1965,' as mailed to members 'of the Council, were :approved.

<br />Mayor Cone read his 1965 message to the citizens of Eugene, pointing out the accom-
<br />plishments of the City during :1964: The annexation of the Bethel-Danebo area .which
<br />added approximately 9000 people and some 8 square miles.; .the occupation of :the new
<br />City Hall building and the airport terminal building at Mahlon Sweet Field; the work
<br />of the Downtown :Study Committee;.theprogr'essmade in :the sewer construction program;
<br />and the accomplishments and expansion o.f various d~partm.ents in City: government .
<br />Mayor Cone also pointed out that 1965 should see the completion of the Pearl Street
<br />extension and widening of 6th and 7th Avenues. In closing, he expressed appreciation
<br />to the members of the City Council, employes of the City of Eugene, and to the many
<br />people who served :on :the numeI:Ous :s.tudy group-s, cQmmittee's', and conmissibn.s durLng,'
<br />the year 1964.
