<br />r,266 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3/lS/65 <br />3/22/65 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Chamber <br />Eugene, Oregon <br />March ,IS, 1965 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Common Council of the city of Eugene, Oregon, was called to order <br />~t 11:45 ~.m. on March 'IS, 1965 in the Council Chamber by Gouncil Jresident John Chatt,in <br />the ab~ence of Mayor Cone, with the fqllowing councilmen present: Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. <br />Crakes, Hawk, Purdy, McNutt, Anderson, and Lassen. <br /> <br />The meeting was called ~o consider the offer 'of a Federal grant in th~ amount of $249,lSO <br />for additions to the sewage tr,eatment plant and construction of main force line for Bethel- <br />D&nebo sewers. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Resolution No., 1163 - Authorizing acceptance of the Federal. grant offer for $249, ISO for <br />sew&g~ tr~atment, plant additions and construction of main force line,~or Be~hel-Danebb,sewers <br />was submitted and ~ead in full. , <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Hawk that the resolution be adopted. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Also considered was the matter of tests on the recently delivered crash rescue truck for the <br />airport. The City Manager stated tests had continued on the truck and work peing done by <br />both the City's mechanic and Yankee Walter's ~echanic is still in progress". However,. several <br />things had developed which indicated further work needed to be done in order to bring the <br />truck to specifications~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. D. V. Wedeman of Yankee Walter Corporation was present and stated that his company would <br />like to return the truck to :the Los Angeles factory and continue the ,work th,ere. ,He also <br />stated that his company would extend the wa~ranty to a 10-year period on the frame with a : <br />5-year warranty on the total truck. It was his opinion that his company could complete all <br />adjustments necessary to bring the trucktb specifications :for ac~eptance by the City within <br />45 days. Mr. Wedeman also suggested that som~one from the city. of Eugene go to the, Yankee <br />Walter factory in Los Angeles at his company's expense when the tests were made on the truck <br />,to be assured specifications are met before the truck is returned to ,-Eugene.. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to allow Yankee Walter Corporation to return the crash <br />rescue truck to Los Angeles and tQ: instruct the,staff:to n~gotiat~ a new warranty period:as <br />outlined by Mr. Wedeman, all tests and altera~ions on the:truc~ to be completed by Yankee <br />Walter within 45 days.
