<br />26r <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />3/29/65 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Chamber <br />Eugene, Oregon <br />March 29, 1965 <br /> <br />The adjourn,ed meeting of _the Common Council of the city of Eugene, Oregon - ad- <br />journed from the meeting scheduled for March 22,. 1965 - was called to order in the <br />absence of Mayor Edwin E. Cone by Council President John Chatt at 7:30 p.m. in the <br />Council Chamber on March 29, 1965 with the following councilmen present: Mrs.Lauris, <br />Messrs. Hawk, Purdy, Anderson, and Lassen. Councilmen Crakes and McNutt were absent. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular meeting held March 8, 1965, special meeting held March 18, <br />1965,. and adjourned meeting he~d March ?2, 1965, as mailed to members of the Council, <br />were approv~d. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Resolution No. 1170 - Requesting Board of C9ntrol of Oregon School Activities Associa- <br />tion to reconsider action taken to move the Class A-ill high school basketball tourna- <br />ment from Eugene to Portland, was submitted and read ~n full. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Archie Zarewski, speaking in behalf of the Parents' organization, asked full sup- <br />port for the resolution, stating that Eugen~ offers within a IS-block radius of <br />McArthur Court all types of activities enjoyed by high school students, whereas the <br />city of Portland could not furnish the types of restaurants, recreation, and lodging <br />currently being offered by Eugene and its citizens. <br /> <br />Mrs.Lauris moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the resolution be adopted. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy asked if the Willakenzie Road paving will be done this summer and was <br />advised that the proje~t is under contr~ct for completion this summer. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy also stated that it is his understanding that Pacific Northwest Bell <br />will install underground cable along Coburg Road and suggested that this be done be- <br />fore the Coburg Road paving is started. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Bids - Removal or Demolition of Houses 12th and Oak, Russell Property <br />Opened March 24. 1965 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Eugene Building Wreckers <br />Harry G. Keating (will pay to City) <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Hawk that the contract for removal or demolition <br />of the houses on the Russell property at 12th and Oak be awarded to George H. and <br />Michael J. Keating on their bid proposal to pay to the City $3,005.00 for the houses <br />and remove them. Rollcall vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />Applications for liquor licenses, approved by the Police Department, were sub- <br />mitted as follows: <br /> <br />Package Store Class B - Dick's Market, 603 West 19th. Milligan, and <br />Wyman Hammer <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Dr. Purdy that the liquor license applications be ap- <br />proved.
