Assessment' Policy - The City Manager'briefly.explained'the ip- <br />tended improvement of Coburg Road in relation' to the "contract' awarded to 'McKenzie Road <br />and Dr~veway Company for $3l2,948.3~. The contract covered 66-foot. wi4e paving, cur~ <br />to curb, with a median strip and 5-footwide sidewalks.' Lane County will pay' for 48~ <br />foot wide paving - $145,261.79. The City Manager explained the City's policy on addi- <br />tional width paving, the curbs and gutters, and sidewalks. The Council would then discuss the policy on paying' for the improvement . <br />at the meeting of August 9, 1965. . . . Airport - The City Manager stated that agreement had be~n ~eached ~ <br />between the City and owners of property in the vicinity of Mahlon Sweet Airport,'and <br />he recommended the purchase of 6.9 acres from Robert O. and Grace Dwiga~s fo~ $750 per <br />acre, and 64.85 acres from J. Hobart and Katherin Wilson for $728 per acr~. . The City <br />Manager also read an agreement which would cover both"properties conce~ning.access and <br />use of property relative to Mahlon Sweet Field. . <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to give preliminary approval to. the,purchase <br />of the two properties at the prices recommended and to the agreements involved.' Motion <br />carried. <br />. " <br /> <br />The City Manager briefly explained the land purchase and the financing of such purchase. <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Item 2 of theCommittee r~ort. . Rollcall vote. All <br />councilmen present voting aye, except Mr. Crakes voting no, motion carried. <br /> <br />3 3. Segregation of Assessment, 25th and Hilyard, Ayotte - Mr. Hal J. Ayott? :reque~tep segre- <br />gation of assessment totaling $1,222.88 for paving 25th Avenue anp Hilya~d Str~~t against. <br />a parcel of property at 25th and Hilyard. The segregation would assess p'arcel- 1 with' <br />$602.03, and Parcel 2, $620.85. Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to i'lPproye <br />the segregation. Motion carried. I <br /> <br />. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approv~ I~em 3 of tne Committee report. Motion carried. <br /> <br />4 4. Purchase of Property. Pump Station Site, River Road Area':' The Public Works Department <br />recommended purchase of Lot ll,-Block' 1, Spring Valley Subdivision, for future pump- <br />ing station installation in the River road area. The property own~r had pl?~ed a value <br />of $3500 on the lot with the request that the City construct sidewalks in' fropt of the <br />property, give assurance that the structure for the pump station. will be compatible in e <br />design with other unitsbui1t in the subdivision, and that the subdivider will be al- <br />lowed to bid on the construction of tpe ~tructure. Mr. .Anderson moved seconded by Mr. <br />,McNutt to approve the purchase of tge lot for $3500 witn the restrictions listed. <br />Motion carried." 0- <br /> <br />Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Item 4 of the Committee report. Pearson - Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt..that ~he <br />Council appoint Mr. James Pearson, 3235 Fillmore Street, as a member of the Civil..S'ervice" Commi'ssion, <br />replacing Frank Bocci, resigned, for the unexpired term ending January 1, 1~70.
