Amend Zoning Ordinance to allow Slot-Car Racing in C-2 Zones - The Planning Com- o <br /> mission recommended approval of an amendment of the zoning ordinance which would <br /> allow slot-car racing in C-2 zones. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to <br /> approve the amendment. City Employes - The City Manager stated that since the <br /> ballots cast by City employes on family coverage resulted in such a narrow margin <br /> between accepting or rejecting the newly proposed coverage, PHA proposed that family <br />I coverage be offered under both the current and proposed plans. Contracts covering <br /> both plans were submitted for approval. Mr. Chatt moved seconded 'by Mr. Lassen to <br /> approve both contracts. Motion carried. <br /> . <br /> 5 7. Dedication. Williams Street and Laurelhurst Drive. EWEB - The Eugene Water and Electric <br /> Board requested dedication for street right-of-way and pedestrian way portions of a <br /> substation site in connection with approval of a minor subdivision in the Bethel- <br /> Danebo area. The dedications would extend Williams Street and Laurelhurst Drive. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the dedication 'of these rights- <br /> of-way. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve Items 6 and 7 'of the Committee report. Rollcall <br /> vote. All councilmen present voting aye, motion carried. <br /> 6 8. Equipment Purchase. Front End Loader and Drop Hammer Attachment - A tabulation of <br /> bids was presented as submitted on this equipment, and the Public Works Department <br /> recommended purchase of the Case loader from Case Power and Equipment Company on <br /> their bid price of $5375, including trade in of a 1948 Byers 61 ~hovel unit. <br /> Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Chatt to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> 7 9. Bid Opening Improvement Pro;ects. August l7. 1965 - A tabulation of bids was sub- <br /> mitted on various improvement projects, and the Public Works Department recommended <br /> that contracts be awarded to the low bidder on construction of sanitary sewer in <br /> Bethel-Danebo Improvement District BD-65-l and on sidewalk construction on 27th <br />I from Columbia to Spring. It was also recommended to reject as too high the bids <br /> on sidewalk construction on Oakway Road from Oakmont Way to ~ariat Drive. Mr.Chatt <br /> moved seconded by Mr. McNutt to approve the recommendations. Motion carried. <br /> 8 lO. Bid Opening. Various Pro;ects Parks Department. August l6. 1965 - A tabulation of <br /> bids was presented on the construction and lighting of four tennis courts at <br /> Willamette High School, construction of a hay barn at Hendricks Park, and paving <br /> in South Amazon Park. The Parks Department recommended that contracts be awarded <br /> to the low bidder on each of the projects, except that the contract for construc- <br />e tion of the tennis courts be awarded on Alternate 2 which provides that cement <br /> coloring be furnished by the City and applied by the contractor. Mr. Chatt moved <br /> seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> 9 11. Overlength Curb Cut. 18th west of Chambers. Lockmead Dairy. Gibson - Mr. H. Gibson <br /> requested two 20-foot curb cuts separated by a lO-foot safety island for the Dairy <br /> Mart Drive In on 18th Avenue west of Chambers Street. The Public Works Department <br /> recommended approval of the request. Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to <br /> allow the two 20-foot curb cuts. Motion carried. <br /> 10 l2. Eugene-Springfield Boundary Line - The Springfield City Council suggested that a <br /> meeting be held with the Eugene City Council on September 9, 1965 at 7:30 p.m. PDT <br /> at the Springfield Library to discuss the Eugene-Springfield boundary line, sewer <br /> service to areas outside both City limits, and reorganization of Central Lane <br /> Planning Council. The date and time for such a meeting were agreeable for the <br />I Eugene City Council. <br /> 11 13. Appointments. Library Board and Human Rights Commission - Mayor Cone recommended <br /> the appointment of Mrs. Ralph Carlson, 708 .Kimwood Place, as a member of the <br /> Library Board replacing Mrs. Ralph Cobb, resigned, for the term ending January 1, <br /> 1968: He also announced the appointment of Mrs. A. Robert Thomas, 2271 Birch <br /> Lane, as a member of the Human Rights Commission replacing Mrs. William H. Sills, <br /> resigned, for the term ending January l, 1968.
