Amazon Parkway - The Planning Commission recommended renaming,the Pearl Street <br /> extension from 19th to 30th Avenue as 'Amazon Parkway'. Mr. Hawk moved <br /> seconded by Mr. Anderson to approve the name 'Amazon Parkway'. Motion carried. <br /> 2 c. Vacation west half 3rd between Taylor and Polk. Hardie & Sons - Waldo S. Hardte <br /> and Sons requested vacation of the west half of 3rd Avenue between Taylor and <br /> Polk Streets, and the Planning Commission recommended approval, with retention <br /> of a utility easement. The Public Works Department recommended Council initia- <br /> tion of paving Taylor between 2nd and 4th. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr.Hawk <br /> to approve the requested vacation, retaining a utility easement, and to initiate <br /> the paving of Taylor Street from 2nd Aven~e to 4th Avenue. Motion carried. <br /> 3 3. Planning Commission Report - September 7. 1965 <br /> a. Annexation portion 1st and 2nd Additions Crescent Park. Trans-Western. et al <br /> (65-117) - An annexation petition was submitted on Lot 1, Block 5, 1st Addition <br />e Crescent Park, and Lots 4, 5, 9, 10, Block 6, 2nd Addition Crescent 'Park. The <br /> Planning Commission recommended the request be tabled because of the inability <br /> to provide sewers at this time. Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to <br /> table the request., Motion carried. <br /> 4 ~. Eugene-Springfield Boundary - The City Manager distributed copies of a memo from <br /> Springfield Mayor David Scofield summarizing action taken at a joint meeting of <br />I the Eugene and Springfield City Councils at which it was agreed that Interstate 5 <br /> should serve as a common boundary between the two cities from the Willamette River <br /> north. It was not intended to include the Glenwood area. Mr. Anderson moved <br /> seconded by Mr. Lassen to approve Interstate 5 as the boundaryline between the <br /> two cities, reserving the right to change this decision at a later date. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> On discussion of a proposed study on the merging of Eugene and Springfield to be . <br /> made by the Metropolitan Civic Club, Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Dr. Purdy <br /> that Mayor Cone and Mayor Scofield meet and discuss with the Club's board of di- <br /> rectors the scope of the merger study. Motion carried. <br /> 5 5. Parking Prohibition 18th and Alder - The Public Works Department recommended that <br /> parking be prohibited on the north side of 18th Avenue for a distance of 80 feet <br /> immediately west of Alder Street. Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to <br /> approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> 6 6. Traffic Signals 5th and Washington - The Public Works Department recommended that <br /> a flashing red signal be installed at the intersection of 5th and Wash~ngton, <br /> warning traffic on 5th Avenue, and that parking be prohibited at the east and <br /> west curbs of Washington Street for 60 feet immediately south of 5th Avenue. <br /> Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> 7 7. Oversize Curb Cut. 720 Wilson Street. Gilbert - Gilbert & Sons requested an over- <br />I size curb cut at 720 Wilson Street to allow easier service to two 20-foot covered <br /> delivery areas. The Public Works Depart~ent recommended that a 50-foot curb cut <br /> be allowed which would increase the existing cut by 20 feet. Mr. Lassen moved <br /> seconded by Mr. Hawk to approve the recommendation. Motion carried. <br /> . <br /> 8 8. Trailer House. 356 Mill. Fisher - Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fisher requested permission <br /> to park a trailer house and erect a workshop at the back of their lot at 356 Mill <br /> Street. Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to grant the request for one <br /> year, with thematter to be reviewed at the end of that time. Motion carried. <br />e Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Items 2b through 8 of the Committee report. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> . <br /> 9 9. Right-of-Way Purchase. 15th and Grant. Ruzicka - Mr. Peter Ruzicka offered to -sell <br /> his property on Grant Street between 15th and 16th to the City for $8300. Condemna- <br /> tion had been authorized at $2500 on July 21, 1965. Council members had viewed the <br /> property and Mr. Anderson moved seconded by Mr. Lassen to proceed with condemnation <br /> but to continue negotiation for a lower price. Motion carried." <br /> Mr. Chatt moved seconded by Mrs. Lauris to approve Item 9 of the Committee report.
